Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Emerson.
Alicia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Well, it literally all started as an obsession with my own nails. It was never a dream, or even an initial thought to be a nail tech. I have pretty much grown up with my Nail Tech as I went to her for 12 years. She had gotten married and was starting life and growing her family and for me, it was one extent of no nail service after another lol. She also did NO designs.
After her third maternity leave, I decided hey maybe I can do this on myself, I had definitely seen it done enough. So I had decided, I went to Amazon and bought about $80 worth of nail products and started doing my own nails. And surprising myself as I didn’t realize how good I was. After about two years of going at it on myself and close friends and family, I was out one day and a girl asked who did my nails and when I said, I did she ask if I do other people’s and then a lightbulb went off. From that point on, I did everything in my power to completely skill myself and make my offered experience one that was hard to find already in this field and really the rest is history…
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I wouldn’t exactly say a smooth road however, what I will say is when you are walking in your purpose things just seem to align, opportunities present themselves and I guess things go as they’re meant to go. Now don’t get me wrong. There has been times that I prayed to be where I am now, but I do always feel like I’ve gradually gone in the right direction. It’s kind of something I’ve been willing to take, any bad with the good. Never wanted to give up just working harder trying to improve you know, learning new techniques, learning new styles and it’s just all kind of come to me that’s how I know I’m doing what I’m supposed to do in life.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The biggest thing I want to be associated with my brand is my slogan, which is “nails done right.” It is what Karefully Krafted is. I want people to know when you want a certain experience Karefully Krafted is where you come. I offer a range of services, I am known for my freestyles and apparently, I’m reasonably priced lol. I am just looking to change the narrative of nails, it belongs to no one and I am here to give women their power back. The power to be creative, to relax, to leave with what you paid for. To just enjoy nails again.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I almost never have my own nails done. Before and In the beginning stages of my craft, I wouldn’t be caught dead without them. However now it seems the more I get to put that creativity out to my clients the less desire I have for myself. Doing nails healed me from my own obsession, lol.
