Today we’d like to introduce you to Amethyst Roberson.
Hi Amethyst, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Amethyst Roberson. I am motivational, faith-filled, resilient & scrappy! I am a Licensed Professional Therapist, Life Coach, Transformational Speaker, Author, and the Owner of A R Therapy & Consulting LLC. I am mostly known for my work in the areas of Healing, Empowerment & Resiliency. I am a 1st generational college graduate of Oral Roberts University. I focus on breaking the stigma of mental and emotional health through transformational & entertaining presentations and seminars. I am a community leader, wife, and freelance photographer.
I was born and raised in North St. Louis County, Berkeley, Missouri. I played volleyball and basketball and ran track. I started running track at a young age, and it quickly became something I was passionate about. I was winning awards and recognition through sports; however, I was dealing with outside issues leading me down the wrong path. While in high school, a situation occurred (remember I said I was “scrappy”) that I describe as a turning point in my life. In short, I didn’t quite start at the bottom, but I was quickly heading there. The circumstances could have been better, and I could have easily been caught up with the wrong crowd. While going through that situation, I started praying, “[God], if you get me out of this, I’ll serve you all of my life.” That experience changed the course of my life. And in my Tyler Perry “Madea” voice, “My beginning no longer dictated my destination.”
Over the following years, I developed a strong sense of purpose through dedication and consistency, which has been invaluable in my life and helped me stay focused and motivated. I started producing motivational music that positively inspired others, from gang members in Saint Louis to others in Europe & Africa, through songs like “I ain’t what I used to be” and “Shine your light.” I have released several books; however, my book, “Healing HER,” was designed as a program curriculum for women wanting to discover Healing, empowerment, and restoration. I also founded CARE Solutions Inc., a nonprofit that offers consultation, alliance-building, resources, and enrichment workshops to help foster healthy families and communities.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a bumpy road at times, but ultimately it has been worth it, and consistency is key. I have learned so much about myself and what I am capable of. I am grateful for the experiences, even the difficult ones, that have shaped me into the person I am today. My trajectory may have looked different if I had continued my involvement down the wrong path, but I decided never to return to my old life, and I chose to keep the promise I made when praying to turn my life around. Ultimately, it was a choice to heal and self-care that led me to where I am today, helping other women heal emotionally, empower themselves and restore what they have lost in life.
We’ve been impressed with A R Therapy & Consulting LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love Saint Louis! Its potential is limitless, and there are so many great things about it. Saint Louis has a great history and is very culturally rich. Many museums, galleries, and other cultural attractions are available for enjoyment. Saint Louis has a great economy and is a major center for business and industry. Many job opportunities are available in the city, which is home to some of the largest companies in the world. You should start from where you are and expand, so I am glad Saint Louis is my launching pad! Saint Louis’s biggest challenge is the perception that it is a declining city. The challenges we face sometimes overshadow many great things happening in Saint Louis. This opportunity to tell my story helps highlight our successes more.
