Today we’d like to introduce you to Quintrel Brown.
Hi Quintrel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in the city of St. Louis with a single mom. We had a middle-class life, but my mom instilled the mindset of hard work in my brother and me at a very young age. I have always prided myself on making my family proud and building generational wealth, so creating a business was inevitable. Even though I always had an entrepreneurial and creative spirit, I decided to follow in my grandfather’s footsteps and join the military to explore more of what the world had to offer. I learned from many mentors and like-minded people while serving. While serving in the military, I continued to create media content creatively. My brother passed away while serving, and I felt lost. I decided to turn my grief into success and finish my degree. After graduating from college with my BA, I figured this was the best time to use my knowledge and skills to create a multimedia content space for other creatives on an affordable scale. Creative expression is essential, and money should not be an obstacle to letting the world see how great you are. This led me to start my multimedia creative event space, KRe8 Spaces. I now serve in the Navy reserves and decided to relocate back to my hometown to run the facility myself.
We offer affordable memberships, free workshops, space rental, and music artist support. We even offer a weekly social club open to the public for professionals to network, collaborate, and exchange resource information. Services can range from live music shows to event celebrations. After being open only eight months, we have held over 20 fun social events open to the public, four artist showcases, and free youth workshops. We have provided our space for over 50 events and media production projects. One of our goals is to tap more into supporting youth creativity, offer affordable memberships for members to make constant quality content, and bring more creatives, entrepreneurs, and music artists together in one central location to network and collaborate.
Would it have been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. Simply getting the word out and letting people know a space like ours exists has been a considerable barrier. This is why I moved back home to take a more active role in business development. This business was also a massive leap of faith for me as I used a huge chunk of my military savings to open this facility. As I understand, over time, things improve. It was a difficult start to fund this entire project in my vision, basically pitching it to the entire world. A space like this has never been attempted, and I wanted it to make sense for our customers.
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
KRe8 Spaces, LLC was founded in 2021 in Saint Louis, MO, by three local content creators. Our primary purpose is to bring a multi-purpose creative incubation facility that equips local creatives, artists, and entrepreneurs with affordable and valuable resources for all things multimedia, content creation, network building, and events related. We are a one-stop shop, multi-use creative space. We have blended art, media, fun, and events into one melting pot location. Our targeted audience is content creators, influencers, photographers, videographers, business owners, music artists, audio engineers, event planners, entrepreneurs, and more.
The KRe8 Place isn’t just “another” media studio or another event space. The experience is interactive and all-inclusive and expands the potential of creativity beyond belief. We offer affordable memberships, free workshops, space rental, and music artist support. We even provide a weekly social club open to the public for professionals to network, collaborate, and exchange resource information.
We are proud of the genuine support we provide for the community. It’s about more than just the money. It’s about building community and relationships with our customers. We want them to know that we are in their corner until they hit every goal they set out to achieve. Outside of that, we are proud of our youth outreach efforts and how we aim to be a resource for all St. Louis creatives.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
As I mentioned, I invested most of my military savings into this project because I believe in its vision. St. Louis can be just the tip of the iceberg for what we can create across the country. We take daily risks in running our business, but the bigger risk would be offering many free events. The youth workshops and free shows only make us a little money, but there is gratification in helping our community. We are honored to be one step in a content creator’s, entrepreneur’s, and music artist’s journey.
