Today we’d like to introduce you to Latisha Pearson.
Hi Latisha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In January 2017, my whole life changed & I became a mother at 22yr old. I was working at Mercy Rehab doing patient care. Shortly after having my daughter, I transferred out of the hospital into Private Duty Home Healthcare. 2yrs later, Truly Organized Cleaning Services LLC was established in 2019. While still doing home healthcare, I also started doing cleanings on the side. I was unappreciated, a good worker who was unnoticed, overlooked, and taken advantage of. I Love helping and caring for others, so I knew something had to change. I wanted to work for myself. I wanted to provide Top Notch services that couldn’t be compared.
Start a business I couldn’t be fired from while providing services like no other! I wanted Financial Freedom while building Generational Wealth. In March 2020, I took a leap of faith and got my LLC. I mainly did cleanings and organization, but as my clientele grew, I began adding more services to meet my Customer’s needs. Not only do I clean/organize, but I also do packing/unpacking, moving services, laundry services, manage STRs/AirBnbs, as well as workers that do lawn care, and even handyman work. My goal was to provide whatever services my clients needed. Customer satisfaction, trust & building a relationship was and still is my main focus! In August 2021, my manager at the home health services gave me an ultimatum to work more hours for them or let me go. As scary as it was, I put my dreams first and walked away. Just like that, I was self-employed (One of the best decisions I made!) Everything else fell into place. I trusted that God would provide for my needs and ensure I could make ends meet. Not only am I able to be present for my child, but I’m also her role model and an example of a good mother. Fast forward to today, business is going great! Word of Mouth and Referrals bring in most of my Clients. Being an Entrepreneur is a 24/7 job, but it’s so rewarding and made me into the Woman I am today!
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely could have been a smoother road. It wasn’t easy to leave my job, but I knew I wanted more for myself and my daughter. I knew I wanted her to have a life I didn’t have and to be able to show her the world. Going from a full-time job to being self-employed came with many sleepless nights, advertising, investing in supplies, and building my business from the ground up all by myself. Business can be busy, but it also has its slow moments. I work daily to provide the best services to my clients while building trust and relationships. My loyal clients, support system, and daughter keep me going. Every day I wake up with the mindset of being better than I was yesterday. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but it was worth it!

Do you have any advice for those just starting?
Some advice for someone wanting to start a Cleaning business, is to Go For It! Don’t give up, and surround yourself with like-minded people. People that will tell you the Truth and genuinely want to see you Win. There’s always room for growth and improvement. Don’t let anyone tell you you can’t or won’t succeed. You can do anything you put your mind to! There are a few things I wish I had known when I first started. One would have been to have a good mentor with my best interest in mind. Another would’ve been starting a business account from the start. Last, bookkeeping is Everything when your Self Employed. Not only will it help you stay on track, but you’ll also be able to better manage your income and expenses. Keeping you ahead of the Game, not in Debt, and Running a Successful Business!
