Today we’d like to introduce you to Diamond Israel & Madison Jewel.
Hi Diamond Israel & Madison Jewel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We are photographers with extensive backgrounds, powerful advocates, and leaders for the women’s empowerment and LGBTQIA+ movement. We decided to combine forces and form a movement like no other—an opportunity to experience an annual event centered around the divine feminine experience, self-love, and togetherness. Focusing on breaking down systematic beauty standards, we are redefining what it means to be feminine, rebuilding the sisterhood between feminine beings, and recognizing the power we hold within ourselves.
Madison Jewel brings ‘No Boys Allowed’ to life with an in-person experience centered around the infamous ‘No Boys Allowed’ group chat started on Snapchat. It cultivated a safe space for the girls, the gays, and the theys to express, vent, share, ask questions, get advice, and find community. This group has grown to have hundreds of divine individuals who use the platform to connect on a real, raw, and vulnerable level with one another, and it is used daily by many members.
Diamond Israel brings her mission from the 4x nationally published ‘Beauty Is Diverse Project,’ where the project aimed to break down societal beauty standards and prove that beauty is not nor ever will be a one-size-fits-all box a mission to cultivate sisterhood, friendship, and comfort in the experience of being a woman while simultaneously offering the opportunity for women of all different backgrounds, body types, ages, and skin tones to see themselves through a new lens of beauty and reconnect with the idea of self-love.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
With the kind of work we are doing, it is inevitable to encounter some hiccups. We are still both very young and learning as we go. It’s just the two of us running wild with this mission and doing what we can to ensure we can create this safe space for the feminine. We’ve been fortunate to have so much support and help along the way, and as time goes on, we hope to have curated a solidified team to help us as Divine Society expands to help take a bit of the load off of us. We are both administrators, planners, photographers, social media managers, writers, etc. We are out here doing it all, and we would love to be in the position to hire other like-minded individuals to help take some of that load off so we can entirely focus on creating and connecting.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Our community, Divine Society, hosts jam-packed events that bring an edge to your typical photo shoot with guest speakers, an incredible location, activities, a chance to hear other’s stories and share your own, group photos that we submit to publications for a chance to spread the work we are doing to a broader audience, and each attendee also receives an individual boudoir session with both Madison Jewel Photography and Diamond Israel Photography.
At our past two events, we carried the energy cultivated during these events and did a lingerie sleepover at our stunning venue. For most of these feminine beings, this event is a way to reconnect with parts of themselves they may have tucked away and indulge in the magic that happens when a group of women gets together.
The goal of this crossover movement is to bring light to the trials and tribulations we experience as women and within the LGBTQIA+ community, to create a safe space to reconnect with ourselves and each other in togetherness. Divine Society is a safe space that allows divine individuals to share their voices, lean on one another, and learn from one another. An opportunity to redefine what ‘beauty’ and ‘self-love’ look and feel like. a moment to remind individuals of who they truly are and allow them to step into their power; The Wild, Intuitive, and Divine beings that we are.
This movement is bigger than ‘No Boys Allowed’ and ‘Beauty is Diverse’ because we stand together as the strongest force on Earth. It’s hard to pinpoint just one thing that sets us apart from others because we truly believe we are a one-of-a-kind experience and community. Divine Society has become a safe space for so many humans, and we are most proud of the lasting impact we have made on those who have had the opportunity to attend. We love what we do and who we do it for and look forward to reaching thousands, if not millions, of people one day.
