Meet Jazmine Wade of Tower Grove

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazmine Wade.

Hi Jazmine; it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I come from a talented family – they played instruments or sang in the church choir. I joined the school choir in the seventh grade and continued through high school. As far as acting goes, I have always been fascinated with film, especially old Hollywood films. I wasn’t just watching for the story; I watched for what costumes were used in scenes, how the makeup was done, etc. I would- and still do any chance I could get to watch the behind-the-scenes material. What got me into theatre was the musical West Side Story. It was the summer before my first year of high school when I saw a performance of it by the high school I would be attending. Then, I decided to join Drama Club during the school year. I was in a few productions and participated in the different committees – Public Relations, Makeup, Costumes, and Set Design. During college, I took a break. Shortly after graduating, I was an Assistant Stage Manager for a production my cousin directed. From there, I auditioned for and acted locally in plays, musicals, and films.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Put, not always. Through all the rehearsals and performances, I would juggle a job, sometimes two jobs, sleep, and relationships. At one point, my body shut down on me at the worst time during tech week of a show. Luckily, I was still able to perform. This was a lesson in listening to my body and balancing my life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
During the pandemic, I took a break from acting to focus more on my spiritual path. That’s when I started to learn and study tarot. It has helped me mentally. Because of it, I’ve made new friends and acquaintances and enjoyed helping people along the way. Very soon, I will be offering readings to the public under the namesake Kendela Fae. At this point, I’m most proud of the community that I continue to build through acting and spiritual guidance.

We all have different ways of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I’m thriving and doing what I love. That, to me, is a success.
