Today, we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Pangelinan . Brittany was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Dr. Leslie Davis.
Brittany , can you walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Currently, I am at a point in my life where I am finally choosing to love myself. Three decades in, and I am almost embarrassed by that length of time, however, I truly believe that coming from a history of trauma has significantly played a part in the timing of this life-changing choice. I lost my father at an early age, and they say it gets better with time, but I am not wine. Maybe in a sense of being put up for later by men who did not want me entirely at the moment, yes, but I am what I would consider a hopeless romantic.
I love to love and have loved like I’ve never been hurt. However love has led me to undesirable places. I am a single mother, a survivor of intimate partner violence, and starting my career all over again after working so hard to build it up. Never once did I think loving someone could yield life altering effects, but it did and it took everything in me to overcome them.
Let’s talk about your work and career – what else should we know?
Presently I am a Training Coordinator at a mental health agency. I am responsible for recruiting expert speakers to train our staff on mental health topics. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Education is a passion of mine as is teaching. Though I may not actively teach, I am learning to fulfill parts of my love for education in my current role. As a single mother, I also work part time at a spa which reminds me to indulge in self-care. I strongly believe what sets me apart from others is my heart, ability to continue to see the good in all things no matter what and my growth mindset. I love that I am able to step into environments where I can use my skills and experiences to deliver quality work and add value to the roles I have been assigned.
So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Dr. Leslie Davis and Leslie Davis Coaching & Consulting LLC and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with Leslie Davis Coaching & Consulting LLC.
I met Leslie at my first big girl job after graduating college. I knew the moment I met her, that she was everything I wasn’t then. Leslie is not afraid to speak her mind. She is not afraid to advocate for herself. She knows what she wants and she puts the actions behind it. She was admirable and inspiring then, and she still is.
As coworkers, we got to know each other more which led to learning about the nonprofit organization she is the founder of, Hearts In Faith. The term Sweet Heart, an unmarried mother, gradually changed over time for me to volunteer, to board member, to now Secretary. Throughout our connection with Hearts In Faith I became Leslie’s personal assistant for her Relationship Coaching business.
I still remember the day Leslie proposed the idea of me being a board member. At this point, we had established a friendship, and discovered our love for coffee was mutual. As the years passed, she became aware of my personal life, habits, and struggles. One thing I always appreciated about Leslie is her ability to be real with you. She was aware of things I was facing, and where I was in my life. She’s a friend who sees you for all that you are and in doing so, trusted me to be her personal assistant.
As Dr. D’s personal assistant, I am empowered as a single mother to have the courage to believe I am worthy of my goals, and capable of achieving them. Working behind the scenes has exposed me to places I never thought I’d step foot in, people I didn’t think to connect with, and knowledge for me to apply in my own life that has carved a pathway to my successes. As a result, I have been evolving and elevating as a woman, and as a mother. I cannot wait to see what the future holds.
