Exploring Life & Business with Tylan Carter of New Era

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tylan Carter.

Tylan Carter

Hi Tylan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Well, where can I start? I first got into the photography business back when I was 15; my friend/brother from another mother, James, asked me to be a part of 2xlou magazine (a digital media page/company) and so I would do a lot of behind the scenes camera and photography work, I then publicly announced myself as apart of the team when I turned 16. I have loved to create since I was a little kid, and once I picked up the camera, I knew this was where my heart belonged. It wasn’t until shortly after joining my brother in his business that my photography skills grew exponentially. I think I went to college and decided to make an independent sister page for 2xlou; that’s when New Era Entertainment came into play. I started that by myself last year, in August 2022. Since then, I have been contracted to do a wide variety of shoots, and I get better with each one, and when I am not shooting, I take the time to study my craft and improve in any area I need to.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing in life has been a smooth road; I had battled a hard time coming up as a photographer; in one instance, I got booked to record and photograph Pooh Shiesty (a famous rapper). However, when we got to the door, we were denied entry, and his manager told us he didn’t need us anymore 30mins after we were already there waiting. I’ve broke several lenses and cameras. Also, personal life affects business too. I’ve been arrested before, and if I am mentally not there or something occurs within my family, my free time for shoots gets taken up because I have to worry about them. However, no matter what, you have to find a balance between it all.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us more about your business.
New Era Entertainment is a photography and videography company. We specialize in pictures and videos that as well put it, “tell more than just a story.” We thrive on excelling in all categories of film and photography. Whether you want a headshot or a new camera crew to film your short film, we can do it all here at New Era. Furthermore, unlike other photographers, we also have some very affordable pricing and payment plans.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most is my clients’ feedback and the opportunity to improve. Nothing in the world means more to me than seeing someone feel joy and contentment when viewing any photography/videography work we have done for them.
