Life & Work with Darlyshia Menzie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darlyshia Menzie.

Darlyshia Menzie

Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
My real estate journey started in December 2021. While talking to my husband about the desires I had for myself as an entrepreneur, he mentioned real estate as an opportunity I should pursue. We’d never talked about it before, but when he said it, something in me leaped! It piqued my interest. He listed all the reasons why I would excel in this industry and it was enough for me to consider this a career. It was an excellent culmination of my skillset, personal passions, and experiences through the years. What a great way to continue to grow, learn, and serve those in my community. I asked a few Realtors I knew and respected to get their opinion. They agreed that I would make a great agent! I prayed about it and got a lot of peace, so I signed up for the classes that week and started Real Estate School at the top of January 2022.

Today, I thrive as a Real Estate Consultant with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Select Properties! I am in the running to become Rookie of the Year within my brokerage and am so thankful to be able to serve homeowners and future homeowners in St. Charles, St. Louis, and surrounding Counties! My motto as a Realtor is to educate, advocate, and motivate my clients throughout this process. Real estate is much more than a transaction. Thus, my clients are treated with the utmost respect and enjoy the pace and process I set for them. Real estate is an opportunity to create legacy through homeownership and that’s exactly what I aim to achieve with each client. I am so blessed to do what I get to do! I am looking forward to working with more families from all walks of life who are looking to achieve the dream of homeownership and generational wealth.

Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Real estate is not for the faint of heart. It’s not over until the transaction is funded! Anything can happen during the contingency periods, but that’s why it takes partnership with all parties involved. Many people say anyone can sell a home – that’s not true! Everything we do in real estate is legally binding and our licenses and reputations are aligned with every decision we make.

I’ve had some tough transactions, but I’ve persisted each time! The help of my very present brokers, my mentor, and the other agents in my office has been a tremendous blessing! I can’t get into too many details, but deadlines, inspections, appraisals, title searches, negotiations, etc., have all been things I’ve had to navigate through to see a deal through successfully. And I did! Even when faced with what seems like a challenge, I do not give up! It pays to have an agent who is solution-focused, goal-driven, compassionate, unafraid of conflict, and eager to learn. I am all those things and that qualifies me with my clients. They see that I stop at nothing to serve them and do it with integrity. I love this work, and I love the people I get to serve!

Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Outside of Real Estate, I am a very active, creative, servant leader. I recently participated in a book collaboration called “Behind the Desk” with 19 other women, where we shared about finding purpose and overcoming challenges in our work spaces and places. It’s a book of strategy, hope, guidance, understanding and help! It can be purchased on Amazon or you can get a signed copy from my website – www.darlyshiamenzie.com/shop. I have published 7 other books as well. Creating resources for others to grow, learn, and develop is one of my callings, and I love it! I serve in several ministries at my local church – Church on the Rock. I am happily married to my husband, Anthony, and am a dog mom to my Cane Corso pup, Armor. Food is my love language, and I love trying new things!

I am most proud of the fact that nothing keeps me down. My faith in God and His love for me helps me stand through all the hard things I face. I am a praying woman, and I believe nothing is too hard for God. I include Him in everything I do! I’ve coined myself “The Praying Realtor” and believe that sets me apart. The most important things in life are not things but relationships, so the relationships I build with my clients mean so much to me! Being active with them, keeping them updated, answering their questions without frustration, and praying for them consistently is what I’ve heard from clients is what makes them love me as their agent!

Any big plans?
I plan to keep learning, serving, growing, and loving my work! You can never go wrong when you are always in a place of learning, and I am a student of life. I want to serve more families because family is so important to me. I want to serve young professionals making their way in life. I want to serve those who need a fresh start due to a divorce, marriage, retirement, family growth, loss of family, empty nest, and relocation. I want to serve Veterans and First Time Homebuyers, which I have enjoyed doing several times! I want to be the type of Realtor clients dream of having because they know they will be taken care of with integrity and excellence. That’s what I’ve been doing and will continue to do. I am just so blessed to serve in this way!
