Hi Alicia, I’m so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story? How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always had a camera in or in front of it, snapping photos with friends and creating memories. A shift happened where I found myself in front of a camera for many years, finding my worth in that. Life took me on a journey where I had to learn that my value wasn’t in appearances or others’ opinions. God stripped away misplaced confidence and guided me to a place of genuine self-worth. Photography, once a passion, found me again. This time, I picked up the camera with a purpose — to be a storyteller and build a life of purpose for me and my children. I love capturing the strength and beauty of women, turning past experiences into stories of purpose. While I still enjoy family photography, capturing legacies and emotions, my heart led me to branding and empowerment. I’m fascinated by businesses built around passion. Recently, I documented Fashion Week in New York, focusing on hairstylists — a testament to my passion. The real joy comes when clients say I draw confidence from them, making them comfortable in front of the camera. Amid the hustle of transitioning to branding photography, I look forward to a future where I can spend more time with my kids — the struggle is real as a single mother of four. This business is my journey to a purposeful life. Teaming up with my friend Ashley, we aim to create a luxury personal branding experience — telling unique stories and elevating brands. My goal is simple: to be the go-to branding photographer in St. Louis and beyond, adding purpose and vision to every click. I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Being a single mother and an entrepreneur presents its challenges and can often feel overwhelming. However, it also grants me the flexibility to be present for my children and create my own schedule. Running this business propels me on a continuous journey of personal growth, which I appreciate, although delving deep into it isn’t always enjoyable. Presently, I’m undergoing training as a life coach to equip myself with more tools to better serve my clients and assist them in telling their stories visually.

What matters most to you?
My children, Jesus, and guiding others to reach their potential are fundamental to my life. My children hold immense importance to me for obvious reasons. My relationship with Jesus has been transformative, not in a strictly religious sense, as I’m flawed at times, but through Him, I discover purpose and truth. Assisting others in becoming their best selves is significant because my own life challenges have shaped me into the person I am today. I’ve learned to turn struggles into strengths, and that’s a philosophy I deeply embrace.
