Today we’d like to introduce you to Grace Terbrock.
Hi Grace, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Of course! My story started in 2015. Before that time, I had always wanted to be healthier but didn’t have the tools or the direction to get there. After giving birth to my second son, I knew I needed to commit and do something different. I didn’t feel great in my skin and wanted more energy & to feel physically strong and capable. I slowly became more intentional with my nutrition and exercising more regularly. Shortly after that, my husband was deployed overseas. Between caring for our toddler, who needed a lot of extra help and attention during that time with some developmental delays, plus the exhaustion of having an infant, I knew that year could either swallow me whole or I could use it as the catalyst to be my best self. I stuck to my guns and made fitness and meal prepping a non-negotiable part of my self-care. During that year, I lost 50 pounds (not to mention so much emotional baggage!) and gained confidence, strength, and a newfound sense of who I wanted to be. I’ve never looked back since! As I started to share my journey online and learned more about the nutrition + fitness world, I had women reaching out to me for help every day, and I loved connecting with them and realized, “I CAN DO THIS!” And so, I went for it! I’m now a triple-certified nutrition coach + a certified mindset coach, and I am certain this is my calling. I’ve always known I wanted to help people and to get to do that for a living as a nutrition + wellness coach for women is a dream come true now.
Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Not! I am a self-diagnosed overthinker and suffer from imposter syndrome big time. You know the saying that we are all our own worst critics? I’m guilty! It’s easy to get in your head and talk yourself out of starting something that feels new, big, or scary. On top of that, there are always lessons to be learned as a business owner! From the smallest things like silly bookkeeping errors or making investments that don’t pan out, there have been failures along the way! But they are always learning lessons as well.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Show Up With Grace Coaching?
I run an online macro nutrition coaching business where we work with women globally who want a healthier lifestyle to feel achievable and sustainable! My mission is to help women ditch “dieting” and build lifelong habits to create results that last through flexible dieting & mindset work. My goal is to educate + empower women on the importance of a balanced macronutrient diet and how they can make that work in alignment with their specific goals, values, and priorities.
What sets us apart is that we don’t subscribe to the typical diet culture narrative. Meaning: we don’t want you to cut out whole food groups, ask you to be perfect or restrictive, or prescribe 30-day crash diets to get results as fast as possible (because, let’s be honest, when results are instantaneous, they go away just as quickly!).
My philosophy is that regardless of your health goals, it all starts with the willingness to show up daily. You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t need to be an expert. You don’t have to go all or nothing. Most importantly, you don’t have to cut out your favorite foods to get there. I believe and know from experience that improving your health doesn’t have to feel like a miserable experience. You can achieve your goals & results without living in a scarcity mindset and feel better than ever!
We offer 1:1 private nutrition coaching and host a few group coaching options each year if you desire more accountability in a group setting! We also provide one-time custom macro nutrition plans as a starting point! We will work together to create sustainable, lifelong habits you can anchor to, no matter the circumstances. You can learn more details about everything included in our offerings on my website: www.showupwithgrace.com
Networking and finding a mentor can positively impact one’s life and career. Any advice?
Most of my business is online, so social media networking has been vital! I advise trusting your gut and reaching out to mentors whose messaging aligns with your mission, morals, and philosophy rather than chasing mentors who “appear” successful. Always be learning, and don’t be afraid to invest in yourself regarding mentors! How can you expect others to invest in you if you aren’t willing to invest in yourself or your business?
