Hi Maria & Channing, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We (Channing and Maria) met while in design school, became fast friends, and worked alongside each other as interns in multiple design firms. After graduation, we quickly realized that not only did our design points of view align significantly, but we both wanted to tackle the adventure of entrepreneurship. Over a pitcher of sangria, the concept of C&M was born. We wanted to foster a bespoke design firm that offered an exceptional client experience and excelled in design excellence. Our studio started small, just the two of us, but over the last 8 years, we have been able to bring on and expand a team of phenomenal women who help make the magic happen. Our studio is known for its refined aesthetic, specializing in luxury residential projects for private clients throughout the country. Our team works closely with clients, providing them with highly personalized and thoughtfully arranged spaces. Interior architecture and bespoke furnishings are meticulously planned and selected with the team’s well-trained eye and carefully considered point-of-view. Our highly effective design process and project management style deliver high-quality results with a contemporary take on sophisticated living.
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any other business, we have had bumps in the road. We are constantly tweaking and revamping our processes and systems to make things easier for our clients and team. We have and do hustle every day to keep things thriving. This is just the beginning; our projects are only getting more impactful. At the beginning, you don’t make any money. Making a living while developing a brand and elevating the experience was a constant battle. It took us a solid 2 years to feel comfortable financially.

How do you define success?
For us, success is often encompassed by both tangible and intangible achievements. Creative excellence and client satisfaction are the two that we are most passionate about. Meeting and exceeding clients’ design, functionality, and service expectations is crucial. Repeat business and positive referrals indicate a high level of client satisfaction. Pushing the boundaries of creativity and setting trends in the industry are markers of achievement. We strive for this daily. Sustainable growth in revenue, profitability, and market presence is another indicator of success. This includes expanding our client base, increasing project size and complexity, and achieving financial stability. Ultimately, success for us is multifaceted, encompassing both professional achievements and personal fulfillment while also positively impacting clients, employees, and the community.
