Hi Christopher, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I’d be happy to share! Zetnom Contracting LLC was founded in 2015 with a simple idea, & a lot of hard work. It all started when I realized there was a gap in the market for high-quality construction services delivered with a personal touch. I had a passion for deconstruction & a vision for creating a company that prioritized customer satisfaction above all else. Initially, I started very small, taking on tiny projects in my local zip code & gradually building a reputation for reliability, & excellence in the Greater St. Louis Region. As the business grew, I focused on hiring skilled professionals who shared my commitment to craftsmanship, & customer service. With each successful project, our reputation is growing & we’re attracting larger clients & more complex projects. Along the way, we faced challenges & setbacks, but each was an opportunity to learn & grow. Whether navigating economic downturns or adapting to changes in the industry, we remained agile & resilient.
Today, Zetnom Contracting LLC is a thriving company known for its expertise, integrity, & dedication to exceeding client expectations. We’ve expanded our services, taken on projects with increasing scopes and complexity, and built lasting relationships with clients, partners, & communities. But at the heart of it all, our mission remains the same: to deliver exceptional construction services with honesty, integrity, & a personal touch. And as we look to the future, we’re excited to continue growing, innovating, & making a positive impact in the construction world.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Running a small business, especially in the commercial construction industry, is rarely smooth. We’ve faced our fair share of challenges along the way, each one offering valuable lessons, & growth opportunities. One of the biggest struggles has been navigating the ever-changing economic landscape. Economic downturns can significantly impact the construction industry, leading to fluctuations in demand, & pricing pressures. During these times, we’ve had to make tough decisions, such as adjusting our business strategy, controlling costs, & finding new ways to remain competitive without compromising quality.
Another challenge has been managing cash flow. In the construction business, cash flow can be unpredictable, with delayed payments from clients, & fluctuations in project timelines. We’ve had to implement robust financial management practices to ensure we have enough working capital to cover expenses, & invest in growth opportunities. Building a reliable team has also been a journey. Finding skilled professionals who share our values, & commitment to excellence has been crucial to our success. However, recruitment, & retention can be challenging in a competitive industry like construction. We’ve had to invest time, & resources into training, & development programs to nurture talent, & build a strong, cohesive team.
Additionally, regulatory compliance, & safety standards are always top priorities in construction. Staying up-to-date with regulations, obtaining necessary certifications and insurance, & ensuring a safe working environment for our team requires constant vigilance, & attention to detail. Despite these challenges, our passion for construction and dedication to our clients have kept us going. Each obstacle we’ve faced has made us stronger, & more resilient as a company. And while the road may not always be smooth, the journey has been enriching, & we’re proud of how far we’ve come as a minority-owned construction firm.

We’d love to hear about your fond memories from growing up.
My favorite childhood memory is a memory I could never forget. It’s the holidays spent at my grandmother’s house. The anticipation of those visits, the smell of her cooking filling the air, seeing my cousins and uncles, & the warmth of her embracing me are memories I hold dear. Those gatherings were always very special to me. The laughter, the stories shared, & the sense of belonging. It’s a time I’ll always cherish & always remember. My children must have the same experience I had with my grandmother.
