Today we’d like to introduce you to Austin Coburn
Hi Austin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Voice typed for time efficiency and personality:
On December 26, 2016, I began doing YouTube Vlogs not realizing how influential nor how beneficial it would be for my future or my life would go. Over the course of five years I uploaded 500+ YouTube videos, videos of my daily life such as hanging out with friends, going on trips, and doing fun challenges and product reviews. I accumulated a little over 2000 subscribers over that course of time and gained a few sponsorships, but overall was not happy with the amount of growth given the amount of work I put into it. I then took a year or so break and began my first job at Waterway car wash. I worked there for about four months until I found a love for creating on TikTok after I realized a few of my videos had gone viral. I found an audience and an algorithm that helped me grow two different accounts to a total following of around 300,000. Waterway picked up on my growth and decided to have me be their social media content creator for TikTok and Instagram. After just a few months, I realized I had a passion for the business side of continent creation and happened to also gain a few business opportunities in the process with other companies and organizations in the St. Louis area, such as the St. Louis Cardinals, US Senator Eric Schmitt, and a few other influential names in the St. Louis area. I’ve then began my own film company late May 2021 and since have grown it to height, I could have never imagined. I now am located predominantly in Chicago and just recently completed a video for Moët Hennessey and can now mark them down as a consistent client of mine/Klicc.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Most of my struggles faced along the way have to do with my peers and their views on what I have been doing over the course of the last eight or so years. Had the beginning of starting YouTube I was looked at as a nobody, and had a very hard time making friends and being accepted for who I was. Although all of the hatred made it very difficult to continue. I looked at it as an opportunity to work harder and prove everybody that it was possible to know what you want to do at such a young age and make it happen regardless of your situation. Overall, the idea I had in mind of creating my own company and doing it for a living did not come about until I was around 16 years old, but I didn’t know I wanted to take you to somewhere I just didn’t quite know until around that time. In high school, everybody began to be a little more accepting of what I did, but it did slow me down and was still looked at as a wannabe YouTuber with no future. Once my TikTok started to do well and I had gained great numbers over the course of a couple months. People started to notice and made it much easier for me to do what I wanted to do. Now I face much larger issues like managing 20+ clients a month and managing the amount of workload I have. I do that by keeping a returning schedule and keeping myself around positive and motivated like-minded individuals in a way from things that are distracting and will not take me down the path I wanna go.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Klicc?
Klicc is a multimedia company based out of St. Louis and Chicago, we specialize in video, editing video production photography, and are working to have a website building division and graphic design division along with professional advertising and marketing specialists. We currently do a ton of work for social media use and corporate use such as the video we just completed for Hennessey. As of right now, we don’t have a storefront and we are mobile and have a team of four. We are always upgrading our skill set and equipment to reach new heights and to reach our goals in ambitions to be the video production company that everyone in Chicago in St. Louis knows and loves. Or should I say will know and love.Given that I have a history on social media and have personally been a creator/influencer for over six years prior to starting my company, we have a two-sided view of advertising and marketing on various platforms. I can bring a humanizing and fun side to corporate productions to make it more viewable and increase viewer retention.
What matters most to you?
what matters most to me is delivering a high-quality product to our clients that leave a meaningful impact on whatever they want to portray through video and or photography. Making sure that our clients are happy and are 100% happy with the quality of our work is our main goal.
I WOULD LOVE IF THIS WERE INCLUDED
I would also love to include my compassion and gratefulness towards Don goble and my eight semesters in Ladue broadcast technology. Without him and all of my phenomenal classmates I would not be anywhere near where I am at, and I would not have found my path and what I would find to be what I want to do for the rest of my life. I dedicate a tremendous amount of my success towards him and my amazing peers in that class that fully believed in me and helped me develop into the person I am today.
