Meet Matthew Jamison of Saint Louis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Jamison

Hi Matthew, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It started when I was a kid. I grew up in church and my dad was a minister. My cousin played the drums, and I used to LOVE watching him play! However, they wouldn’t let me get on the drums cause I didn’t have rhythm on the drumset yet.

Fast forward some years, I’m listening to the Super Mario 64 soundtrack, a Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, & Tchaikovsky greatest hits DVD as a kid, and taking drum lessons as well. I transitioned to concert band & drumline, then I began playing drums in church & eventually bass guitar. “

After that, I ended up playing bass with multiple bands in my city and connected with musicians and producers outside of St. Louis as well. I joined a music community called Sidechain Society in 2020 and started an LLC (Matthew Jamison Music, LLC). From there it grew into a place where I developed my own sound.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but in every struggle, I appreciate the lessons I’ve learned through it. (I’m open to answering this question more in-depth verbally. That’s just the way I am)

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I produce and play as a session bass player. I’m proud of the ability to tap into my own sound and enjoy creating. What sets me apart is that when I make music, it’s genuine.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
