Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Clayton
Hi Brittany, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I graduated college, I had a dream of becoming a sports broadcaster. As a former basketball player who loves the media and journalism, I couldn’t think of any better way to spend my life. I would dream about interviewing athletes on the court or field and being apart of their athletic history, live and in action. Honestly, I still think about it and would also love to host major events. However, at that time I realized that God had a different path. I didn’t understand it and I didn’t like it but I knew that the path would be made clear one day. For 10 years I spent time in BMW sales, finance with Northwestern Mutual, and most recently corporate recruiting. I learned so much in these spaces and got to network with some of our city’s best leaders and executives. Although I do thoroughly enjoy sales and recruiting, I always knew that something was missing. After obtaining a Communications Degree from Missouri Baptist University, I envisioned myself making a difference in the community through my writing and creativity. For the last 10 plus years, I’ve been actively seeking ways to make that vision a reality.
So a couple years ago during a pivotal time, my friends and family pushed me to go after my dreams! It enhanced my faith and I now work for myself full time as a Marketing Specialist and Creative Director. I’ve developed a deep passion for collaborating with entrepreneurs, small businesses, and corporations nationwide to bring their missions to the forefront! I enjoy adding value through writing, voiceovers, graphic design, consulting, and all things marketing! I never want to minimize my sales experience because it was very beneficial. However, I realized that without proper marketing, you have no one to sell to! I didn’t just want to sell a BMW but I wanted to be apart of the story and the branding image that makes us want the Ultimate Driving Machine. The same goes for any brand that I love. An organization’s values and their mission will always live on, long after we’re gone and that’s what I want to contribute to.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not but that’d be no fun! I’ve always had a commission or performance based career and I do feel that it helped me prepare for entrepreneurship. I think part of me enjoys the thrill of it all. It’s like being on a rollercoaster. There are some dips and there’s some smooth moments but whether you’re high or low, it’s all temporary. Outside of navigating your finances, I think it’s important to acknowledge the mental and emotional grit one has to have to go after their dreams. So again, it hasn’t been smooth but every moment was worth it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I offer a wide range of marketing services for your business or personal events. It could be a simple birthday party invitation, a church flyer, or something as grand as your company’s website or promo video. I do specialize in script writing and creating video concepts for advertising and that’s when you really get to see the full range of who Brittany is! I’m known for putting together thoughts and ideas and turning them into something special. More importantly, if you haven’t thought about your company’s mission, I’ve got you covered. I thrive in that area! You don’t need to stress. You’re focused on building your business and so I want you to be as relaxed as possible. With minimal information, I’m known for taking the information you provide and turning it into a marketing masterpiece! I’m proud of the fact that I’ve gained trust among individuals and that they feel safe leaving the image of their brand in my hands. I think that what sets me apart is my heart. I truly desire to see others win! I don’t see you just as a client but you’ll gain a friend in the process.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My family is at the top of the list when it comes to support. My parents especially! They never stop believing in me and they may not know it but I want to let it be known that without their love and their example I wouldn’t have had the courage to bet on myself. Seeing them in their own business ventures was and is a huge motivation. They handle challenges with grace and show me that all things are working for our good even when it doesn’t look like it in the moment. My entire family is like this really. They hype me up no matter how small or big the job is. They really want the best for me and that love is felt everyday! I have aunts, cousins, and so many people who have given their time, resources, and even opened their homes to me when I was at my lowest. My friends are just the same. There’s too many to name but my best friend from college is certainly one who will always be appreciated. I also have some amazing mentors who took a chance on me when I had zero experience. They pour out an invaluable amount of knowledge and I don’t take it lightly. However, if I take all of this love and support, it wouldn’t mean anything without the clients that continually allow me to create for them. From real estate, to board games, to health and wellness, ministry, and much more, I LOVE the industries and the people that I get to interact with on a regular basis. They keep me inspired!
