Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Mang.
Hi Anna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It is a funny story, how I first picked up the camera! It wasn’t even my camera! It was my aunt’s! My boyfriend was a senior in high school at the time, and of course, he needed senior pictures done, but the photographer they were going to use canceled on them multiple times! His parents didn’t know what to do; they ran out of time! A random thought came to my mind; maybe I could do them! I had no experience with an actual camera! I captured his senior session that year! I decided to post the images, and I started getting messages! Everyone loved my work and wanted their images done! I used my aunt’s camera for months after! I finally booked enough sessions to buy my camera off the marketplace! I have honestly just taught myself everything about the camera and editing! I am still teaching myself new things every day!
Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, yes, but with every job, there are challenges! The photography industry is continually growing! Work is constantly changing. Therefore, I always have to be creating work that is different and stands out! It takes up a fair amount of time to be creative and constantly create unique concepts that other photographers haven’t invented yet! Another struggle or challenge I’ve dealt with is WINTER! The winter is the most complex and slowest season for me! I do have a studio, but bookings slow down! Nobody was to leave their house because it was too cold or the weather was bad as soon as the weather started getting warmer. My schedule fills right back up!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a photographer (Anna Mang Photography)! I specialize in capturing the beauty in people! I could be capturing the beauty in a family or even capturing a model with clay all over her, and beauty still shines! I love making people smile and boosting their confidence during my shoots! Everyone is beautiful in their ways! I constantly show my clients the images to make them aware of how beautiful they look! What sets me apart from others is I am not only there to take the images, but I am also there to make their day! I am overjoyed when a client walks away from the shoot or when they see their images and recognize just how beautiful they are!
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck is a big part of photography and business! There are a large number of photographers out there! It is all luck when opportunities fall into your hands! Yes. There is a lot of preparation and marketing, but it is all luck when the image reaches the client’s phone or computer! Will they notice your work first or another photographer in your area? That is when being creative and unique comes into play! How can I stand out from other photographers? What can I do that they aren’t yet? Those questions are constantly going through my mind when I am creating concepts.
