Today we’d like to introduce you to Audrey Abbonizio
Hi Audrey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been creative my whole life. I was always doodling or singing. Growing up, my cousins and I would spend our time immersed in creating videos. I started making my own little movies and taking pictures as well on my own devices. I noticed pretty quickly I had an eye for setting up a camera. My parents gifted me my first camera around the time I was 17/18 years old, and I practiced a ton. My love for photography quickly grew from there. I started shooting for my friends for fun up until recently, I started taking it more seriously. Now I’m the designated photographer for Living Hope Ministries.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There was a pretty long hiatus I took from photography from about 19 to 22 years old. In that time, I had my daughter, which has been the biggest blessing in my life. I spent all of my time and energy on her while she was an infant, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. As a single mom, it took awhile to find my balance and slowly add things back onto my plate. I only recently added photography back into the mix within the past year, and it’s been beautiful the doors that have started opening because of it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My current focus is portrait photography. I photograph families, events, engagements, and do personal shoots. I love to bring the clients vision to life. It’s important to me that everyone has the opportunity to feel beautiful in their body and capture moments that will last forever.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
The biggest step you can take is the first one. It took awhile for me to develop the courage and trust in myself to just get started, but, once I did, the confidence grew from there. Social media helps so much in finding other like minded creatives in the area, as well as attending networking events. I personally got a lot of my connections from the church I attend, which has been such a big blessing.
