Check Out Becca Winemiller ’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Becca Winemiller

Hi Becca, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Ever since I was little I always had a love for fashion, beauty, etc. I know, that sounds cliché, but I was that girl and still am. I am the go to person amongst my friends and family for any type of fashion, makeup, hair, and trend advice.

But let’s fast forward to 2020. I am in my third year of teaching (I teach middle school PE) and I was bored and lonely at home by myself. Ya’ll know what happened that year right?, I don’t actually need to say it do I? I decided to film a silly little reel on Instagram and found out I was actually kind of good at it. This turned into a creative outlet for me. Anytime I needed to shut off my teacher brain and not think about the trauma of being a teacher (if you’re a teacher than you understand) I would record a reel or
TikTok about favorite hair products, or different makeup products I liked at the moment.

I have found that I love showcasing smaller businesses/brands and supporting local businesses. And I always love brands reaching out about a product. Especially a smaller woman owned business.

Do I have a large following? No. Do I have a loyal following? Yes, and they would go to bat for me if I needed it. I love them.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wish I could say it’s been a smooth road
trying to meld my teacher side and fashion side, but just like everyone else it hasn’t been.

I would love to dedicate more time to highlight more smaller businesses and to satisfy the creative side of my brain, but teacher exhaustion is real y’all.

I have all these ideas I would love to do, but Monday- Friday during the school year those ideas don’t happen. If I was more organized then maybe I could get it done, but I joke that I’m a Type C personality, meaning I just go with the flow of things.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Most people who don’t know me are surprised to learn that I teach middle school physical education and coach volleyball. I just finished my seventh year teaching at Central Middle in the RiverView Gardens District actually! I taught high school PE for 5 years and just finished my 2nd year of middle school PE. I also just finished my 13th year of coaching volleyball.

I love PE because I am able to connect and build a strong rapport with all my students. I like that I am able to give them a safe environment to just be kids/teens and blow off some energy.

I am known for my matching Nike sweat suits and my Air Force One’s. I think I have enough to wear a different one each day for two weeks. I’m just waiting for Nike to sponsor me. Hahaha

One thing I am proud of and love is when former students reach out to me to let me know they’ve graduated college or they got the job they went to trade school for, or they got married. Each student holds a special place in my heart and always will.

How do you think about luck?
I have lucked out tremendously when it comes to my friends and family. They all fully support my professional life and my creative life.

It’s just super validating when a friend comes back to me and tells me how much my hair recommendation worked, or how the skincare I recommended helped.

My family has always supported me no matter what and have always allowed me to march to the beat of my own drum.
