Check Out Janel Raihl’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janel Raihl.

Hi Janel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I am originally from Camano Island, WA state. My mother was an art teacher and continually sparked my creativity with new mediums. I was raised with Art being a voice and way to express myself. Working with local organizations here in Las Vegas and abroad, I decided during the pandemic to help others express themselves through art. I am very grateful to be an Art Ambassador for Coprabel Belgium as well as Dubai as well as a featured artist at Westgate Casino and Resort. What’s next for me is a partnership with Art Wavy LLC and a new studio/gallery in the heart of the arts district located in The Arts Factory Las Vegas.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The pandemic was difficult. People were scared of people. The warehouse I was in closed, and my studio space closed. I had to build a studio in my garage. I had plans to travel to Belgium for the debut of Illumination, my artwork, when the global pandemic broke out, and lockdown happened. Finally, my dream had been coming to fruition, my career crested & the world just stopped. I had completed two projects for two companies that both ended up closing. I was not paid, despite having already spent my money creating the custom pieces.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am probably known for my murals. I specialize in conveying a message through multi-mediums; I tell a story through my art. I’m most proud of being featured in a Las Vegas casino and abroad. The opportunity to be seen publicly on the side of a building and in other countries. What sets me apart is trying to teach people to do it with me. I enjoy creating projects to allow others to have an artistic expression with me.

What characteristic of yours would you give the most credit if you had to?
Wanting to continue to bring art to the community has always been part of me as an artist. It is why I came out! Being very focused and dedicated to the community has been essential to my success. There’s a knowledge of the power of artistic expression. Bringing uplifting messages in my art and always telling a story. Art becomes your voice. Art is my Love language in the world.
