Today we’d like to introduce you to Janelle Carter.
Hi Janelle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I have loved travel since I was young. My parents instilled an adventurous spirit in me from an early age which was no surprise when I chose to go 1800 miles away from home for college. I received my bachelor’s degree and then my master’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis. I’ve worked full-time in healthcare for over 13 years and still work full-time in that arena, but I was looking for a creative outlet. I always loved traveling, and I’m a pretty detail-oriented person. I love planning the adventure as much as the adventure itself. In December 2022, I became an independent contractor with Magic Vacations, a full-service travel agency based near Orlando, Florida. I now help others plan adventures to make their trip the best! We work hard for our vacation time, so I want you to feel like the trip was worth it. I want you to come back with memories to last forever!
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest challenge is social media. It’s constantly changing, and trying to keep up with it to get your name out there can be challenging. It’s how most people receive their information nowadays, so we must try to be one step ahead.

I can help someone plan as much or as little of their trip as they’d like, and the best part is that my planning services are free to my clients! It’s a common misconception about travel agents because everyone wonders. How do they get paid, then? We are paid a commission by the destination you book, so there’s never a cost. I specialize in Disney (Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruises, and Adventures by Disney), Universal, major cruise lines, and all-inclusive resorts. Still, I can book nearly anywhere you want to go! I’ve been to Disney many times, and we’ve traveled to several areas of the continental United States, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Mexico, Europe, and Australia!
What does success mean to you?
I define success as doing something you love.
