Today we’d like to introduce you to Legacy Mitchell
Hi Legacy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Legacy Denise Mitchell, but I’m better known as Legacy Diorrr. I am a Fashion and Runway Model and Brand Ambassador. Born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas, I took my first photos with the talented Elliott Reece (@shotsby_reese), and from a young age, I dreamed of becoming a household name in the modeling industry.
I began taking dance classes early on and continued through middle and high school. This exposure honed my artistic skills and built a foundation of confidence that I carry into my modeling career. I reflected on my passions as I entered adulthood and pursued modeling full-time.
I knew the path would be challenging, requiring dedication and hard work, but I committed to never giving up on my dreams. Inspired by icons like Tyra Banks, Naomi Campbell, and Zendaya, I embraced the belief that setbacks are merely stepping stones to success. Each photoshoot and fashion show has told a unique story, providing invaluable lessons.
I understand that modeling isn’t just about having a pretty face or striking poses; it’s about expressing oneself and connecting with an audience. With the unwavering support of my family, I cultivated a deep love for modeling that continues to grow.
My first runway show in Little Rock for OneLuveFashion ignited my passion and solidified my desire to pursue this path. The thrill of being on stage, in front of the camera, and surrounded by fashion felt incredibly liberating. Since then, I have participated in shows in St. Louis, Little Rock, Dallas, and LA, including OneLuveFashion, Rocket Supernova, STL Black Fashion Week, The Model Experience, Dallas Fashion Week: Fire and Ice, Boss by Brand, Frizz Fest, Festival of Nations, and Bosses Affair Fashion Show.
I’ve worked with many talented creatives, including Savy the Creator and her agency @xperience_savy, who have elevated my modeling journey. Collaborating with photographers like Nylus Black, donnieSHOTit, and ronthevideographer has also been instrumental in helping me refine my craft. I genuinely believe I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support and guidance I’ve received.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road could have been smoother. I’ve encountered health issues along the way that have made things more difficult. After moving from Dallas to St. Louis, I had to balance my modeling aspirations with the realities of life by securing a full-time job. This meant I had to drop out of several shows I was committed to, forcing me to prioritize what truly matters.
However, my year in St. Louis has been incredibly transformative. I’ve gained valuable knowledge and support from other models and creatives in the community. Their guidance has taught me to push myself to the best of my abilities, and I’m grateful for the experiences that have helped shape my journey. These challenges have only strengthened my resolve and deepened my passion for modeling.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I enjoy fashion and runway modeling immensely. Gaining confidence in my work has revealed new aspects of myself that I didn’t know existed. I’m proud of my growth and the diverse projects I’ve taken on so far. I’m known for my distinctive runway walk, positive energy, constant smile, and determination to never give up on anything I pursue.
Throughout my journey, I’ve connected with many creatives and supporters who have pushed me to my limits. Participating in LA and Dallas Fashion Week was pivotal, making me feel destined for greatness. Meeting celebrities and attending various fashion shows further solidified my desire to be part of this industry.
I aspire to make my mark in New York and travel internationally to shows in Paris, London, Milan, and other fashion capitals. These experiences will help me expand my knowledge and network even further.
My commitment to authenticity sets me apart; I strive to create my unique style rather than copying others. I embrace diverse modeling opportunities and continually seek to showcase my distinctive talents. I know I have much more to learn and share, and I’m excited to evolve daily.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The COVID-19 crisis taught me some invaluable lessons. During the pandemic, I worked in a department store, and it became clear that this wasn’t the path I wanted to follow for the rest of my life. While I appreciated the experience, it solidified my desire to pursue my dreams as a model and be more deeply involved in the fashion industry.
This period of reflection has helped me understand the importance of following my passions and not settling for anything less than what truly inspires me. It reignited my commitment to modeling and fueled my determination to make my mark in fashion.
