Ley & KLA, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hello, we are 71, a dynamic duo dedicated not only to the art of dance, but also to fostering connection through the unique events we curate and host. This may sound kind of funny, but our decision to venture into event planning stemmed from our own experiences as introverts. We recognized the challenge of finding spaces and events that cater to individuals like ourselves, and noticed a lack of easily accessible, welcoming environments. Our goal is to create a safe, inclusive space where people can connect and enjoy themselves, fostering a sense of belonging for those who may not always find that in traditional event settings. While we are relatively new to the event hosting industry, we have plans for significant growth and expansion of our events and parties in the near future.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
To be honest, the journey has not been without its challenges. We firmly believe that anything worth pursuing requires hard work and perseverance. For example, we had booked an event space a month in advance, with many attendees eagerly anticipating our event. Unfortunately, just two hours before the event was set to begin, the venue unexpectedly canceled on us. Understandably, this caused significant stress and uncertainty. We questioned whether this was something we should continue to move forward with, wondering if it was all worth it, and how to communicate the situation to our attendees. While the cancellation was beyond our control, we recognized that it was our responsibility as hosts to find a swift solution and ensure our guests were satisfied with the experience we ultimately delivered.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As we are event hosts, we did not start out as so. Our journey began as dancers based in the St. Louis area. Over the years, we’ve achieved several milestones, including participating in numerous in-state and out-of-state competitions with our former group, teaching various dance classes, performing for local artists, and earning a trophy at our very first performance as a duo.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
As we mentioned earlier, we were previously part of a different group several years ago. While it was initially devastating to part ways, looking back, we now see it as a blessing in disguise. It brought the two of us together, strengthening our bond and making us more in tune with one another. This shift allowed us to explore a wide range of new experiences, enhancing both our individual growth and our synergy as a team. We are truly grateful for that chapter, as it played a crucial role in shaping who Ley and KLA are today.
