Check Out Tee Johnson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tee Johnson

Hi Tee, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always gone by the name Dirty Blossom. At that time, I was selling vintage clothing while working in luxury retail. During a conversation with a friend, I had a sudden realization: it would be cool to work with flowers. The very next day, I visited a small grocery store around the corner from my job at the time and asked the florist if I could shadow her to learn the trade and the business. This all took place in Chicago over eight years ago, and since then, I haven’t looked back; I have truly fallen in love with floristry.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I can’t say my journey has been entirely smooth; I’ve definitely encountered my fair pot holes along the way, haha. However, I wouldn’t change a thing about my experience. You could say I approached everything in reverse. Instead of attending floral school, I gained hands-on experience by working at several flower shops, where I learned by observing others and acquiring new skills. I’m currently focused on discovering my unique style and what sets me apart while still navigating the business landscape. If I had the chance to start over, I would have enrolled in floral courses earlier to better understand the business aspects. But, as they say, you live and learn. I’m still evolving, but I feel my business is more polished.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a floral artist focused on events and creative direction, I am recognized for my unique designs and modern flower arrangements. I celebrate individuality and authenticity while pushing the boundaries of traditional beauty standards. By tapping into creativity and using everyday items that are often ignored in conventional floristry, I take pride in my unique creations that bring love and joy to clients, transforming their perception of design.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What I value most is the quality of my work and the emotions my designs evoke in others. It brings me so much joy when clients express that they’ve never received flowers quite like mine or mention how long their arrangements lasted—over a week! A tremendous amount of effort goes into each design I create, and it fills me with a sense of purpose, as if I’m fulfilling gods work by bringing happiness to people’s lives.
