Today we’d like to introduce you to Tia Latimer. Her and her team shared their story with us below:
A native of Saint Louis, MO, Tia Latimer is the creator of Pretty Little Candle Co. Tia has always enjoyed the method of how candles worked and the amazing aroma they give off. She had a vision to design scented candles that were very creative and different from your traditional candle. Tia put her thought into action and that thought then became a reality when she launched PLCC. “I want people all over to know that it’s ok to be their true authentic and unique selves, regardless of others’ opinions as to what they may think is normal. PLCC embodies the unique personality of boldness that I wish for everyone near and far to feel within themselves.”
Currently, I have received orders locally, and across the US, with so much support and love.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
At first it was not so smooth because I didn’t know where to begin, or how to even make a candle. But after having many trials and errors, it helped me gain my confidence to know that I can do this. I was a little nervous because these are custom handmade candles, so I was wondering if people would like them, how they smell, etc. I wanted to make sure that they were perfect. Now I’m just taking it one step at a time and still learning new things about candle making. My brand is to be Unique, Bold, and Extravagant, and I want this to exude through my candles. It’s okay to not be like everyone else.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a 3rd-year student at Missouri State University studying Communications with a minor in child and family development. I graduate with a BS in Communication Studies in Spring 23’. One day I want to become a High School Guidance Counselor that helps lower to middle-class students. I want to make a big impact on kids, because when I was younger I came from a poor, low-income household so I know how it feels to not have it all as a child. I just want what is best for children which sets me apart from others, and I also hope PLCC can be an avenue to help make a difference in the lives of those that may not think they can be themselves and still succeed
