Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Mariie
Hi Tiffany, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I got started back in 2019, I was pregnant going through a lot and I had no way of expressing what I was feeling so I took all of that frustration and I started writing. After I had my first child, I decided to really put my feet on the ground with the spoken word poetry, so I started by having my own shows for a while. Which turned into me being booked and asked to be apart of a lot of other shows once my talent was actually being recognized. At one point in time being a newbie on the scene they wouldn’t allow me to perform, I had to prove myself and here I am today in 2025, a 3 year poet of the year nominee, in the year of 2023 I won poet of the year for multiple award shows thrown, and i definitely continue to perform all over and compete in poetry battles.
My main purpose now with what I am doing is to show young women and even young men that it’s ok to be expressive, it’s okay to talk about things that bother you or that you feel so passionate about. It’s okay to SPEAK UP in the best way you know how.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road lol. Man I wish it could have been but then I wouldn’t be the person and the woman that I am today if I wasn’t tested. Some of the things I faced along the way of being a poet is just extreme competitiveness, with folks who share the same love as you. I also faced a lot of backlash because of the things I would talk about when performing, which caused me to switch up the things I talk about now in my poetry. Also, my biggest task I faced and still am facing coming up in this business is, everyone is not going to like you and like what you are up there on stage talking about but some how someway you have to figure out a way to mask that confusion of why? You have to figure out how to appeal the crowd that actually belongs if that makes sense. Don’t change yourself for folks to like you, but it definitely makes you question why? Which I face today still.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What do I do. I am currently a leasing agent in school to get my realestate license cause that is my original career (9-5) choice. Outside of my everyday job, I am very well known for my spoken word poetry all over. I specialize in poetry, you give me any topic any type of event and I am able to give you the best show possible, I love to write and I love how versatile I am. I am most proud of my accomplishments with my albums and my awards, every day I walk past my trophy shelf it’s very motivating it’s very inspirational to me, basically helps me keep going. What sets me apart from others is how versatile I am and how I can talk about anything and everyone can relate, I’m able to be in all settings and still be One Of The Greats!
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something surprising folks probably don’t know is I am also a author, I have several several books I have just never published cause I’ve always been scared of the “ I don’t like this “ lol
