Hi Carmen, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I took an early buyout in 2016 from a Fortune 100 financial services firm located in STL. When I left I held several positions in IT, banking, and hedge fund analysis. I started Benefits To Go LLC because self-employed women had no voice. Not only is the age group 41-55 for women 8-12 years behind on their retirement goals they have NO employer matching program.
I’ve always felt the need to help the self-employed woman because my mother had her own business and I witnessed her being afraid to take vacations or even getting sick because she knew her family would not be provided for.
So my vision for BTG was to solve this problem among these women who had big goals and achievable dreams but lacked the support and a unique product offering that gave them the peace of mind in knowing that some form of a retirement benefit is possible.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The main struggle has been fear and insecurities. Fear of raising my son successfully after my divorce. Fear being a failure. Fear not being able to provide for my son if Benefits To Go LLC didn’t work out. Just plain FEAR! But what I learned about fear is “If don’t let the past die, it won’t let you live either”.
So I began to go on this journey with my Lord and savior. In a revelation, I became aware of the true power of words, so began to practice saying them in a more positive way. I began to speak out loud the way I DESIRED for things to be instead of how I felt on the inside.
The outcome was astounding!! It seemed like people were just appearing to perform for me the exact function that I had been praying for!! Things began to get aligned with my vision even big surprises happened along the way that I never could’ve thought possible. The power of the subconscious mind coupled with positive thoughts and words leads to an unbelievable BREAKTHROUGH!
