Today we’d like to introduce you to David Zahn.
Hi David, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started off in part of the construction trade, eventually venturing off and starting my own business called A+ Works, where I focus on home remodeling, complete renovations and yard drainage. Then many years ago, I decided to venture into the chicken world. I came across an ad for someone trying to re-home chickens and went and picked them up.
Throughout the years, our girls have ventured from a pen to our Mansion coop and now happily live in the Chateau coop. I have learned what makes them happy and us happy in taking care of them. I wanted to make sure that other animals are as happy as ours and so started an additional business called A+ Builds. I customize in making homes for all types of animals, along with creating customized necessities for homes. Last year I was offered the opportunity to continue on a local small family-owned business, The Easy Chicken. Now I operate both businesses; The Easy Chicken focuses on chickens while A+ Builds, builds to all.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The business started off slow but as the years have gone by, there is more interest in having well-built custom pet homes for animals.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
A+ Builds customizes in making pet homes for all types of animals, along with creating customized necessities for their homes and our client’s homes too. We also build sheds and kid’s playhouses. A+ Builds has built for chickens, ducks, dogs, wallabys, goats, pigs, cats, miniature horses, guinea pigs, rabbits and bats. But that list won’t stop there. I am excited to see what future clients ask to have built.
We can customize for you and your pet’s needs. We have a wide variety of options that can be included. Anything you can do to your home we can do for your pet’s home too. We pride ourselves on the quality of our work and craftsmanship. We use quality materials and take our time building each piece to ensure it is to the best of our ability. Last year with the addition of The Easy Chicken business, we are also offering some new services, including consultations, rental packages of our chicken coops with and without chickens, and starter packages!
We are located in Imperial, just south of St. Louis, Mo. We have our pet homes across the area, such as St. Charles, Hazelwood, Webster Groves, Ladue, Creve Coeur, South St. Louis, Arnold, St. Louis County, Kirkwood, and have had clients travel from other states to pick up their pet homes.
How do you think about luck?
I was fortunate enough to be able to take on chickens that led to a business that allows me to do something I love, help pets and people.
