Community Highlights: Meet Jennah Purk of JennahRocks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennah Purk.

Hi Jennah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I built my first salon, The Bend Salon in Webster Groves in 2015 as an act of love for my stylist of 20 years. She wanted a place where should could lead culture and I had access to capitol. I fell in love with the beauty industry, where before I was a consumer, now I was a leader. Following a capital event with another venture, I purchased Fuzion Salon and Spa in South County. Fuzion is much larger and presented new opportunities and challenges. Three years later, while completely different, both facilities have character, remarkable professional teams and unparalleled talent. I am humbled by what these teams accomplish and manage in their day-to-day lives.

Late 2019 I was lead to build a Med Spa in Rock Hill. While slightly different than the other two facilities, culture is still king. The Rock MedSpa is much more capital intensive requiring intricate equipment, medical and nursing staff, and specialized expert aestheticians. While the MedSpa is the smallest facility, it is also mighty. The profound changes our patients experience is humbling ad exciting.

I currently under LOI to purchase three additional locations, making Salon | Day Spa | MedSpa industry in our community while preserving culture, engaging the community and changing lives. Relax Refresh Renew

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Too many to mention. We are a people company. We engage people as their employer, their landlord, their trusted advisor, and their consultant. When engaging people about their appearance, you are discovering insecurities that are not discussed away from the chair/treatment bed. This can be jugular for some and joyous for others. Communication and Candor are important in everything we do.

I’ve also made silly mistakes, underestimated deferred maintenance, underestimated commitments and goals, underestimated costs, overestimated capacity. You name it, I’ve faced it together with the leaders in my organization. BUT, we learn and we grow and reach. We surround ourselves with dreamers and doers, the believers and the creators, those of great faith and resilience that bring out the greatness within us.

I don’t look at challenges as failures, but I personally fail every day on some level. To accomplish our goals, those failures have to be acknowledged in the light, observed and addressed!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
JennahRocks LLC is a holding company that owns The Bend Salon LLC, Fuzion Salon LLC and the Rock Spa LLC. These are the three entities currently providing services in the beauty and anti-aging industry. Our specialties are vast, but what sets us apart is our Team. Each team member is an expert in their chosen specialty. We invest in innovation, technology, training and product to ensure each team member is equipped to grow and develop.

Our team sets the tone for our culture. From the COO to the Laundry Team, we were a family, we are focused and we are growing. We embrace change and challenge and strive to love one another well.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
So funny. The app I use most if FitBit and UberEats. I say that honestly, but all of our scheduling software is app-based, my church has been Facebook live for more than a year now as we’ve endured the impact of COVID-19, I communicate via text and outlook nearly every minute of the day and last but not least I escape with Audible

My faith in God defines who I am as a Leader, Mother, Sister, Daughter, Companion and Friend. I attend Central Presbyterian Church under the leadership of Clay Smith. 99% of the time I am facing challenge, I find solace and direction in one of Clays sermons or in a daily devotional sent out by the church. I also lean into my “Tribe.” The women and men in my life that hold me aloft and always have words of encouragement and experiences that shed light on my current situations. I’m a long-time member of EO, Entrepreneur’s Organization, where owners of companies come together to share experiences, learn and grow. Last but not least, I look to my children for their unadulterated wisdom and kindness.

I am blessed to rarely find myself alone. Quite frankly, if I misunderstand myself to be alone, I panic. Those that love me know that and have stories they could share!
