Today we’d like to introduce you to Breanna Lee and Victoria Dickson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I (Breanna) interned with the St. Louis Blues and have always had a passion for sports.
After the internship was completed, I wanted to continue working in sports but wasn’t sure of what path to take. A friend suggested starting a sports podcast as my way into the sports world. I jumped at the idea but did not want to do it alone and knew I needed a cohost.
After asking two people and they declined, I thought about like-minded people who I knew enjoyed sports as much as me and thought of Victoria. I messaged Victoria on Twitter, pitched my idea about a podcast and she was instantly on board.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The beginning wasn’t as smooth as we would have liked.
Once we both agreed on doing the podcast together, we would meet up fairly often at our alma mater (Webster University) library to brainstorm ideas. Once we came up with a name, we really didn’t do anything regarding the show for over a year due to personal reasons.
Other struggles were in the beginning when we started to record episodes. Breanna was the engineer and she basically unlocked a new skill level. We also struggled with gaining traction, which is to be expected with a new show; especially a show with women speaking about sports.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We have a podcast that is about sports but it is from a woman’s perspective.
As a collective, we are most proud of the progression that we’ve made in the last three years and the commitment to continuing with the podcast when many would have folded. What sets us apart is our passion for sports and our willingness to always give a great show.
We give personal, honest opinions while being thoughtful about each other’s thoughts. It’s a more unique and fun way to look at the latest sports headlines, from two different perspectives.
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I (Victoria) have never been to an NFL game. I (Breanna) have never been to an NBA game or attended a March Madness game considering my love for basketball.
