Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Marconette Jr.
Hi Jeff, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story started when I was 17 years old at a stoplight. I was sitting there waiting to turn left, and the collision happened that changed my life forever. A semi-truck ran into my car at the stoplight. And that should have killed me. After that collision, the things I could do changed into things that I couldn’t do or would never be able to do again. The motivation to prove those who doubted me wrong gave me the determination to Make Every Second Count. Making me look at life differently and helping me to achieve goals I was never expected to, and allowed me to get to the place I currently am in my life.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road for me at all. I have had to relearn all basic life skills since the accident. So the struggles that I encountered started with learning how to breathe on my own again. Then holding my head up and sitting up without support. Being able to stand and walk again. Because these basic skills were robbed from me due to the accident, physical therapy has become a staple in my life.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the Award Winning International Make Every Second Count Speaker. I inspire others to live their best life by encouraging them to Make Every Second Count. I am known for my determination, drive and positivity, with the disadvantage of having to relearn basic skills. Inspiring others while speaking about my story and continuing to achieve goals that I set for myself are the things that I am most proud of. The thing that sets me apart from others is my drive to live life to its fullest, even with all the struggles that life has put in my path since the accident.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5 to 10 years in the speaking industry, we will see more in person events taking place while maintaining virtual speaking engagements. I will also see the Becoming the Best “YOU” you can be: Overcoming Challenges movement continue to inspire people through the motivational individuals who I share the stage with during the weekend long conference. The next conference will be in St. Louis, Missouri on October 21 – 23, 2022.
