Conversations with Parker Hudson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Parker Hudson.

Hi Parker, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, let’s briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Previously I had a horrible allergic reaction to a bath bomb sold in most major retailers. I told my mom I wanted to create a company that provided bed and bath time products that were super cute but didn’t have skin irritants that could be sensitive enough for people like myself to love and enjoy. So I created the name Magical Bath! I discussed what I wanted to sell with my parents and made reasonable price points. Outside of bath bombs/soaps created for sensitive skin, I love pajamas! Life is better in pajamas! Everything should look and feel magical. So I created a pajama line for girls in the beginning that are super soft and lightweight so you can stay cool, non-fading, non-shrinking, and most importantly non, itching. And now I have family holiday pajamas. I also carry reversible hair bonnets, pillowcases, slippers, and nightlight pillows that are super cute and comfy!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
It has been a challenging road for me. My biggest struggle was for people to see me and take me seriously because of my age. I’m currently 9 years old. I first launched my business on my 7th birthday in 2020. I would get adults to walk up and say, “you’re such a good little helper to your mom,” at events, which was frustrating. So one day, I started speaking up for myself and letting them know that I was the company’s owner and my mommy was the helper. I began to explain the quality of my products to customers, how they work, and my recommendations, and that’s when I started to be seen and respected as the owner. The next biggest struggle I sometimes feel was setting up for public events because I have a lot of stuff, and it’s heavy too! But we have devised an organized way to store and set up, which makes it easier. My brand has always been e-commerce, where you can shop online 24/7 at TheMagicalBath.com; however, at the beginning of my journey, I did in-person events in small local pop-up shops and a couple of fashion shows to showcase my pajamas. I’m invited yearly to large conventions like ( YBK day (Young Biz Kidz), Working Women’s Survival Convention, Taste of Black STL, Earth Day, and more!) Major opportunities for my company.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I create and provide bath and bedtime products that are safe for everyone but also cute and comfy! A lot of hard work goes behind the scenes of owning your own business, especially at such a young age. I’m known for my unique hand-painted bath bombs shaped like known cartoon characters. My customers love them. Especially since they don’t have to worry about irritation. And the legal/technical things that I’m not old enough to handle my parents handle, and I appreciate them for the continuous support

I’m most proud of how far I’ve come in such a short time. I just started in September of 2020, and since then, I’ve personally created over 15 pajama sets, worked huge festivals and conventions, done a commercial for my company, interviewed at Studio STL, 100.3 the beat/Hey Young World, and my most recent biggest accomplishment I was selected to be featured on a billboard off of highway 170 Northbound off the Olive exit for the entire Black History Month by Arriel Biggs Owner of Young Biz Kidz and Outfront. That was an amazing opportunity! And I received more exposure and sales from that. I’m genuinely thankful.

How do you define success?
