Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Hamilton.
Hi Rebecca, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Violin has been my lifelong passion. I studied violin performance for many years. After graduating with my Master’s from The Juilliard School, I moved to Los Angeles, where I played violin for major motion picture soundtracks and recording artists. Although I had classical training, I loved playing pop songs on the violin, and I wanted to form a string quartet group that specialized in playing renditions of songs that people would be surprised to hear performed by strings. St. Louis has a wealth of talented musicians, and after relocating here in 2019, I formed Project String Quartet. The caliber of the violinists, violists, and cellists in St. Louis is exceptional. Still, I saw only groups creating performance opportunities for string players who wanted to add a fun twist to the traditional classical string quartet. The concept of our string quartet has been to explore unexpected musical genres on strings, create exciting arrangements with concert hall quality performances, and, most importantly, have fun doing it!
You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
The COVID pandemic temporarily put our performances to a halt, but gradually we were able to resume playing together with masks and social distancing. Restrictions have been relaxed, so we are happy to perform full-time again.
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Project String Quartet performs at weddings and events in and around the St. Louis area, and we are known for our wide repertoire of vibrant pop string quartet covers, where the classical and popular music worlds collide. These covers are our exclusive renditions. Our clients can craft a custom playlist for their event, making each performance reflect our client’s unique taste in music. Whether it’s a wedding, a celebration, or a corporate event, we love collaborating with our clients to make a memorable soundtrack that combines the refined elegance of a string quartet with the excitement of contemporary music.

Music is truly the universal language. Moreover, music is the key to emotion. A passionate musical performance has the power to move a person to tears or have them hitting the dance floor. What matters most to us is the emotional connection we form with our audiences through music.
