Conversations with Thornton White, III

Today we’d like to introduce you to Thornton White, III.

Thornton, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was raised in St. Louis for half of my life. Then, at 10 years old, I moved to Norman, Oklahoma. It was an interesting experience living in Oklahoma but deep down I had always wanted to come back to St. Louis.

Now, I am a freshman at Maryville University as a Cybersecurity major. I am not only focusing on Cybersecurity but I am also an upcoming social media influencer. I try to help people through life and try my best to create an open space platform for anyone to ask questions or learn.

I started in St. Louis, and I like how God brought me back to St. Louis to do the things I’m doing today. It’s been such a blessing!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Life has not been a smooth road. When I moved to Oklahoma, I was so sad. I missed my friends and family. I had absolutely no friends and no family in Oklahoma but I needed to gain new relationships and bonds.

I also learned so much in that state that I wouldn’t have my life any different. It’s been a struggle learning about social media and life in general but it’s becoming easier to handle.

I’m still learning to this day. It’s not easy adjusting to new situations but in the end, the reward is worth the struggle.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Aside from college, I am working on growing my social media presence on Tik Tok and Instagram. I am helping people find a bigger purpose in life. A purpose bigger than themselves. I help Finnegan Stewart with his fashion brand on social media. We take pictures and film videos together sometimes.

I’m a social media influencer also. I make Christian content but it’s not for Christians only. It’s for everyone. Anyone who’s interested in knowing more about the faith or just genuinely curious. My specialty is helping people. I like to help people from all kinds of backgrounds.

What I am most proud of is the comments in my Tik Toks that say “You’re different from the other Christians. You actually explain things. Thank you.” Simple stuff like that makes me happy. I even have people in real life tell me this too. I think what sets me apart from other people is that I’m willing to sit down and listen to people. I try to make time for people because I want to help them and be friends with them.

Many people don’t have time nowadays to just sit and listen. I always tell people that a fool only listens to their own opinion. I try to live by that by listening to people from all types of backgrounds.

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned on this journey is patience.

I’ve learned that I cannot rush the process. I can’t make myself learn everything in one day. I need to be willing to take things slowly one day at a time. It’s always been about the journey for me, not the destination.
