Conversations with Tianna Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tianna Smith.

Hi Tianna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Tianna Smith, but my brand is Ginaes’ Floetry. I am a wife and mother to 4 amazing kids. I am the author of 5 books. My specialty is what in which I call Sermonized Poetry. It is a twist of a spiritual sermon, biblical stories with wordplay and rhymes wrapped into motivation and inspirational poems I have been writing since 12. I have written stageplays, songs, speeches, poetry, and books. I brought one of my plays to the stage last year in Dec 2022. This play was titled “Me Versus Me.” The concept of this play was to unveil the inner me, which is oftentimes the enemy of the hidden me. I am co-authored a book titled “Her story his glory” by the colorfully candid paradigm. This is a book of collaborative testimonials from many women from all over. I am a co-author of my children’s books as well. I was inspired to help my kids publish their own stories and dare to tell their own stories to inspire other kids to become what they so desire. The quick version of their story is that I have 4 kids that all have different types of what I like to call special abilities. (The world’s brand or handle on it is called disabilities). “In the Eyez of the Child” by Harmony Smith talks about how she perceives the world as a child with autism. “A boy called me “by Theodore Smith talks about how he is trying to piece himself together to be the young man he is destined to be despite the special abilities he’s faced with. “Kid Possible” by Lyrical Smith will be released this year, in spring 2023, and this book explains how she got into the world. The story of having faith when the doctor is telling you otherwise. I have one child left to write his book. And the goal is for it to release next year.

You can find all these books on Amazon.com or contact me if you want them shipped and signed. My info is Tiannasmith865@gmail.com, or you can reach me on all of my handles @Ginaes Floetry.

My push and motivation are my husband and children. I am a youth leader, minister, and praise dancer as well. I was just on a stageplay at the James Eagen Center titled: “My soul cries out” by Bertha Meyers. My dance group and collaboration team were the opening act of the play. I was also in a stageplay titled “Guess whose coming back, you ready?” by Loretta Butler. I was again a praise dancer and played the role of a female thug. I put my music out back in 2020, along with doing motivational & speaking engagements. I love what I do. I am a part of KAM (Kingdom Artisty Media), a platform that promotes Christian talent and gifts on display unto the glory of god. A beautiful Christian platform founded and run by Shalese Johnson. The ultimate goal for me is to encourage, uplift, and inspire. I want to restore hope and bring joy to people. My heart grows big toward youth and children with special abilities. I love making people aware of how special and unique they are. When the pandemic hit, it set many of us creative artists back. I was used to being on stage, and things were taking off. But I’m now rebooting and giving it a go again. The quote I often use says that “We will always be winners if we never give up.” Ginaes’ Floetry.

Please talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Life is never smooth pavement. But the thing that keeps me leveled is my faith in god. It’s hard to maintain a house of special-ability kids, Be a wife, try to pursue and focus your attention on your dreams and make a daily living.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a praise dancer. I have taught other local churches to praise dancing. I am the author of 5 books. My specialty is poetry. I write inspirational, motivational, and sermonized poetry pieces. I have music that I created back in 2019, and it was released in 2020 on all major digital platforms, including my YouTube channel. I also was the winner of the 2019 Stl talent show presented at the Omega Center. Poetry and dance are what I am most known for. I am most proud of helping people and knowing that my words give people hope to move forward. I aim to encourage and truly inspire. I desire to no. 1 to please God and be the light that someone often doesn’t get to see. This world can leave you dark and lonely sometimes. The thing that sets me apart is that I genuinely care about people. I do. And when I care, I go all in to ensure life can be somehow better. Also, there are many talented and gifted people in St Louis, but I know for a fact that my pieces of poetry have a lasting impact on one’s heart. It’s something that stays with you for a lifetime, and it’s pulled out when you need it.

How would we have described you growing up if we knew you were growing up?
I was a very fair kid. I was the typical kid. I got in trouble occasionally, but it wasn’t too bad. I was always outgoing. My brother and our best friends loved dancing and singing. We had a little kid group. My mother had card games every Friday night. Our house was the place to be: food, friends, drinks, and us kids. The grown folks looked to us for their halftime. That was the break they took to grab food and see what entertainment we had for them that night. If we were not dancing, you better believe we would be singing. Every day wasn’t a bed of roses. I was a mouthy kid. I had to have the last words to say to my mom. Lol. But overall, I had a pretty average childhood experience.
