Daily Inspiration: Meet Antionette Stevenson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Antionette Stevenson.

Hi Antionette, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The pandemic had just started, I worked as a manager at a shoe store and in February they let everyone go SCARIEST time in my life. I was off from work for 2 months, they slowly let us come back and things were never the same. I needed away out, I decided to work for myself and NEVER be in this position again. I worked a few more months and in August I found my building and fell in love with it, I put the deposit down and it started from there.

November, I quit my shoe store job and perused my MEN’S CLOTHING STORE dream full time.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
After the pandemic, this was the second scariest moment in my life. So now I’m full time working for myself (the store didn’t open until May 8 2021 by the way) we’ll I’m getting the store exactly how I wanted it, floors, paint, decor, lights done. Literally everything I had to get done. I basically tricked my friends with lunch so that they would help me decorate. Which means I’m spending money but I’m not open or making any money! Tragic

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a men’s clothing store owner that specializes in urban men’s fashion. I’m most proud of stepping out on faith with no experience as a business owner, l have exceeded every goal l set for myself. I think what sets me apart from others, my customers become my friends, they are repeat shoppers. I can select items and I’m confident they’ll love them. I have the latest fashions.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I’m very open and willing to work with the next upcoming fashion designer in our city especially, because someone gave me chance and helped out a little here n there with me even if it was just asking Facebook a question. I tell everyone to stop in to the store with merch and let’s talk business all the time. I have a website, social media, and I can be contacted on all.
