Hi Jay, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I am a gifted artist that infused the art of hip hop and R&B with his stylish flow creating his signature Coast Sound!
I have a melodic vibe which is of my own uniqueness that brings a positive energy & leaves you wanting more. With influences from artist like Bob Marley & The Wailers, Prince, Michael Jackson & Earth Wind & Fire!
Born & Raised in East St. Louis IL & St. Louis, MO gave me two outlooks on life and how to shape those two realities and make them whole.
Growing up in an area where some don’t even make it past 18 years of age, I took the safest route to creating my own success. Keeping a leveled head, building up my goals, and do anything in your power to make them come true!
You Can Make It To Any Place You Wanna Be At In Life, Don’t Let Dreams Fade Because of Certain Circumstances. If You Got The Will, You’re Bound to Make It Happen… and you can quote me on that!
The path that I am on today is bigger than being able to put into words the ideas & bodies of work I have not only for myself but for the community is breathtaking. I want everyone to eat ‘cause we are family & family sticks together.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life is never a smooth road not even for people born with a silver spoon in they mouth we all have struggles & obstacles to get over!
My beginning into this world was not easy, as my father was an artist as well & this road we take to show our talents but also make a living at is hard. But me seeing him work hard to provide for his family taught me will & showed me strength. Yes, the light bill might not be paid on time the darkness would creep in but I was always shown there is always light surrounding us, we are the light!
I didn’t think of myself as poor even if I was seen as poor in others’ eyes, I saw myself as wealthy but through knowledge, experiences & talent. These are things people live they life for or only believe it starts as an adult but to be honest it starts when you want it to start!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I consider myself an Alternative Hip-Hop & Rhythm/Blues type of artist but with that said I feel that I am putting myself in a box. A box that I remain to keep open & it’s see-through. Because I am more than just a recording artist, I do & have done more than must music and stuck to one genre. My main focus is whatever I feel I create in any form of art… film, photography, drawing, etc.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
The world can come to a halt but don’t let that stop you from continuing to move forward.
