Today we’d like to introduce you to Kasandra Tinajero
Hi Kasandra, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always had an interest in Tarot. However, there were not any metaphysical stores where I grew up in Cumberland Gap, Tennessee. Not to mention, it would have been a frowned upon practice due to a predominant Christian influence in that area. In 2019, I built up the courage to pick up my first Tarot deck and teach myself how to read the cards! As time went on, I met people who shared similar interests! I started Mountain Crow Tarot LLC in November of 2023 as a means to use something I love to help others with problems big and small! I enjoy meeting people and hearing their stories!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road! To obtain a LLC, my husband, Tim Tinajero, helped me with the paperwork required to make my business official. He also helped establish my website, www.mountaincrowtarot.com. It has helped having a husband who does IT who is also my biggest supporter, often accompanying me as a chaos coordinator at big events! Building up a customer base as a Tarot reader has not been easy. Social media has been a means of getting both my name and services out to the community. I taught Tarot Teaching Moments in a private Facebook group for a year, teaching people the meaning of all 78 cards from both my experiences and literary sources. That was a lot of fun! Those videos can be found on YouTube under Mountain Crow Tarot. I have collaborated with other Tarot readers and businesses as a means of getting my services out to the community. Networking with others is a means of growing and strengthening a business. I have met loyal customers at the various witch events every October who come back to see me year after year! I value the people that I have met and the experiences they have shared with me over the cards. If anything, all of the obstacles have taught me from experience how to run a business that I continue to grow and expand in.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I perform many different Tarot spreads which include three card spreads, Celtic Crosses, and Spicy Tarot for ages 18+ about relationships. Every December and January, I perform New Year spreads to help my clients set intentions and goals for the New Year. I have the overall vibe of a Southern Mom with the gift of gab so I am good at speaking with others and meeting them where they are at the moment. If anything, many readings end with a hug or high five! I believe in the client’s time being a safe space where they are listened to and feel respected and valued. I always remind people that Tarot is a tool for reflection and insight. It will never replace professional or medical help. I am big on resource sharing with my clients. Ultimately, they save themselves. If anything, over the cards, we can frame and put into context what may be troubling them while determining what resources are out in the community to help them. It feels good to just sit down and talk to someone over the beautiful imagery of the cards because communication has become a bit of a lost art with the emergence of technology which can be so impersonal. I perform both in person and online readings, however. I understand one has to keep up with the times.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something surprising about me is that I work full time as a Registered Nurse in behavioral health! My Tarot business is my side hustle that I do as another means of helping others and building community! I generally do not mention that I am a R.N. unless I refer someone to seek medical or mental health care services based on my nursing knowledge and experiences. I am all about resource sharing and empowering my clients.
