Today we’d like to introduce you to Lando Peyton.
Hi Lando, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hey! Alright! My name is Lando, born and raised St. Louis. I started my page when Covid hit. Before Covid, it was only an idea. Still, when I saw on Social Media or news articles of local family own businesses closing because of a limited amount of exposure and profits, I wanted to do what I could to help. From then on, I started creating videos and taking photos of the food at the local restaurants I would visit and post them online. Didn’t think it would do much since I wasn’t a skilled photographer or videographer but I wanted to try anyway.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For the most part, it has been a smooth road. The only thing I had to figure out was my identity. There are a lot of great digital creators in St. Louis, so for me, it was how I stood out from the rest and grow. So I had to research and learn from creators inside and outside my city and ask them questions, and to my surprise, they were willing to help me and answer those questions even though I was this nobody small account, lol. But that ultimately helped me to create Epic Eats which people seem to love!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might need to become more familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Thank you I really appreciate that! Well what I would like to call what I do is create digital art in a sense, specializing in food. I’m known for making videos advertising food to catch viewers’ eyes and make them try that specific food! First I want to say I won’t create or post a video of food I tried that wasn’t to my liking. But, yeah that’s what I do is make eye catching food videos! My proudest moments are when those specific restaurants reach out to me and tell me how much business they have received from my video, especially when a family-owned business needs that help and exposure. I say other moments are when my follows express how much they enjoy my videos and made them aware of so many restaurants they haven’t been to before. What sets me apart is the value of my videos and the consistency of what I create, keeping that same flow but still having its uniqueness to the video that it stands out from the previous video I made.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Best: St. Louis has an amazing creator/art scene! There are so many amazing local creators like BradenSTL and Orginaldante, who both make excellent and informative vlogs. Another creator, Becomingsher! Watch out for her she has great talent for visuals in a video and it’s amazing! Also, others in the arts like Mai Lee, Brock Seals, dance studios like In-Step Dance helping children learn dance and photographers like Julianna.dng. There’s many many more amazing people I could name but we would be here all day, lol. St. Louis is definitely a creative city!
Least: St. Louis is playing catch-up in the food scene. I would love to see St. Louis have more flare to their dishes! A restaurant that not only gives good food but they do/show art when presenting that dish. We eat with our eyes first, drawing us in, but then the taste captures us! To capture that art on camera and show it would be truly amazing!
