Today we’d like to introduce you to Regina Welch.
Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
I started off designing garments around the age of 13. I started off bleaching my jeans. I became a wardrobe stylist in 2015 when I started styling for photoshoots. I became a certified celebrity wardrobe stylist/designer a few years later. As I continue this journey, I get better and better. There’s nothing better than doing what you love and having fun at the same time.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There has been plenty of obstacles. At times I have designed/styled an individual in a completely different state, and as crazy as it sounds, either measurement can be off if I couldn’t make it to the individual just for measurements. So they would have to go somewhere near them to get measurements and send them to me.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a wardrobe stylist/designer. I create custom garments from urban to elegant. There is nothing specific that I am known for because I design a fair range of garments. Regarding fashion, I am most proud of the newspaper dress I created for a Garbage Gala here in Saint Louis. The thing that sets me apart from others is that when I do photoshoots, I am usually the creative director. Most designers/stylists bring the garments to the photoshoot to dress the model(s).
Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share? We’re always looking for lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis.
During Covid 19, I spent more time creating and understanding who I am.
