Hi T’Airra and Nzinga, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We founded the Eccentric Divine Dance Team in 2022 after being brought together by a mutual teacher and mentor. Both born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, we have been dancing from an early age, gaining experience over the years through various dance teams and church ministry. This passion for dance eventually led us to leadership and coaching, culminating in the creation of our own majorette team.
Building and growing this team has been a learning experience, as we strive to establish a strong foundation that allows us to grow bigger and better each year. Maintaining open-mindedness, transparency, and clear communication between us as co-founders is crucial to that foundation.
We face every challenge with courage and determination, embracing the responsibilities and resilience it takes to be effective coaches.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey for The Eccentric Divine Dance Team has been anything but smooth, but what meaningful journey is without its challenges? One of our biggest struggles has been establishing our presence within the community. Many people are accustomed to seeing the same local teams, which can make it difficult for emerging groups to gain recognition and secure the same opportunities.
Another challenge we faced was retention. Identifying and connecting with your audience is essential to building a successful brand. From the start, we focused on creating a strong foundation for our organization. Our goal has always been to establish a solid base that aligns with our mission and allows us to better serve our clients. By prioritizing structure, we have positioned ourselves to grow while staying true to our core values.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
When seeking a mentor, it’s important to find someone who has experienced the trials and errors of running a business, particularly in your field of work. A good mentor should possess the wisdom to guide you through challenging situations, offer advice on navigating obstacles, and provide support when needed.
As for networking, we’ve made it a priority to consistently put ourselves out there and connect with the community. This includes handing out flyers with information about who we are, showcasing our team’s talent through public performances, and engaging in conversations with people.
