Today we’d like to introduce you to Ta’lor Matthews.
Hi Ta’lor, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Ta’lor Matthews. I am a 25 year old African-American entrepreneur and creative. I enjoy drinking coffee and watching movies whenever I have the time to do so. I am passionate about creating and connecting with other like-minded individuals. In 1997 I was born with a cataract typically seen in individuals in their 60s. However, I didn’t realize it was the best thing that could have happened to me. The cataract allowed my vision not to be the best in my right eye. Due to this fact, I had to wear glasses, and I still do to this day. Fast forward to 2018, when my journey in entrepreneurship began, which played a major role in my being born with a cataract. I had the idea to begin selling eyewear. This idea was birthed from me becoming tired of wearing dull eyewear that was expensive. I wanted to offer fashionable and affordable frames for all. This is how my eyewear business, Grace Eyewear Collection, began. Grace Eyewear Collection has been thriving ever since. We currently offer funky frames for women and men and recently just launched our newest collection. Outside of being an entrepreneur, I am also creative. BaIn018, I also began teaching myself how to design in Photoshop a; theest has been history. I now spend my time creating for brands and business owners. Creativity is and will forever be a part of me.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve experienced many challenges and they haven’t been easy at all. There are always going to be some bumpy roads on your journey. I’ve experienced many struggles, such as low self-esteem, depression, torment, anxiety, etc. However, I’m thankful for those struggles because they’ve strengthened me.

Everyone knows me as a creative or business owner. I am a graphic designer. I designed a list of things from logos, flyers, business cards, banners, apparel, and so on. My speciality is content creation. Content creation allows me to story tell in a creative way. Content creation allows me to tell stories while incorporating art. I’m most proud of my ability to bounce back from anything. And also my determination to become successful. What sets me apart from others is my transparency. It’s hard to find that these days. We hear a lot of stories that aren’t factual and people can’t respect that. I believe most people cling to me due to my transparency which has helped them within their own journey.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I wouldn’t say “luck” played a major part in my life or business. I would have to say “favor” and “God” has played a major part in my life. Having God in my life has allowed many opportunities to come my way. Having Him in my life has been life changing and nothing could be possibly without Him.
