Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Morgan.
Ashley Morgan
Hi Ashley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In the summer of 2022, I was at a crossroads. I was burnt out from years of working in tech as a marketing executive. I knew that the years of functioning under constant anxiety, battling microaggressions, and feeling unseen had taken its toll. My mental health suffered, and so did my relationships with my family, friends, and myself. So I decided to quit. It was terrifying, but the price of being undervalued, underrepresented, and underappreciated in these spaces was just too high. In late October of 2022, I launched Whip It Goods Skincare. Why skincare? My 4-year-old daughter had been suffering from eczema since birth. The medicated creams we depended on were so harmful to her tender skin. I sought alternatives, but most were formulated using harmful petroleum-based compounds, parabens, preservatives, and carcinogens. I researched extensively and began whipping up skincare products from items in my kitchens. My formulations soothed my daughter’s skin and eliminated the need for medicated creams. My passion for plant-based skincare continued to grow, and soon I was making products for our entire household. With the encouragement of my friends and family, I turned my passion project into a business. Leaning on the skills I cultivated while climbing the corporate ladder, I have developed a brand, grown a strong customer base and expanded into retail through valuable retail partnerships. Through Whip It Goods, I found purpose, peace, and passion.
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been full of ups and downs. I’ve been asked frequently if I have any regrets about leaving tech and the cushy salary? I’ve even asked myself this questions, and the answers change daily—doubt still seeps in, especially on the hard days. Being an full-time entrepreneur is the most challenging thing I have ever done, but also the most fulfilling. On the hard days, one word gets me through, persistence. That word has much more meaning to me now than ever. It’s become my mantra of sorts. Success can sometimes have the appearance of luck or ease, primarily through the lens of social media. It’s not easy; it’s hard every day. But I tell myself to persist, keep going, and push through.
