Today we’d like to introduce you to Becca Brown And Ellery Patton
Hi Becca Brown and, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
We worked together at a high end salon for nearly 10 years. Our partnership started when we were asked to take continued education classes to become salon mentors and trainers for our large salon. Together, we would be in charge of training all new hires as well as mentor our fellow stylists. We enjoyed growing together into this new position, as well as supporting our fellow stylists as educators, while still working full time behind the chair. After the pandemic, like many people in the world, we were ready to make a change that better suited our growing families and protected a healthy work life balance. In 2022, we left the salon we loved to start building our own dreams. We worked together in a tiny studio for 2 years. This time was a great opportunity for our partnership to grow. In 2024, after a yearlong search with many ups and downs, we found a building for sale that was already a beautiful salon and decided to make the jump. After a whirlwind 6 week renovation, in May of 2024, we opened Grow Hair Co., a salon and spa collaborative in the beautiful historic district of Lafayette Square. Since then, we have had the opportunity to support 3 of our dear friends in their own business endeavors. We rent them space in our salon where they can independently grow their own businesses, while still maintaining the community of a full service salon. Since meeting in 2013, we have both gotten married, became parents the same month of 2017, and have added 6 beautiful children between the 2 of us. With Ellery’s home being in west county, and Becca’s being in the metro east, Lafayette square was always our dream location. It is such a beautiful area nestled in the busy city, and it is accessible for the both of us, as well as our widespread clientele.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
While from this perspective we can see that everything has happened for a reason, it was very hard and scary to leave the comfort of a fully established and busy salon. It took a lot of faith in our clients, in our own capacities, and in each other to believe that we could build something just as successful and fulfilling.
Once we decided to find a place of our own, the search was not an easy road. Our ideas were very specific and had multiple leads that did not pan out after months of negotiations.
Once we found our forever home, we only had 6 weeks to make it our own while working full-time. Thanks to our village of family and friends, and lots of long days and nights, we did it and were able to open June of 2024!

We are a salon and spa collaborative offering Hair Color, Hair Cutting, Hair Extensions, Body Waxing, Hydrafacials, Brow Services, Microneedling, Spray Tans, and more medical spa related services, coming soon! Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
When searching for a mentor, don’t look for the most successful or the most flashy. Look for the person who emulates the quality of services and gives the vibes that you yourself want to match. Look for the quiet leaders who are showing up every day, giving their very best to their craft.
