Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Jauernig
Hi Brittany, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I practiced in Southern Colorado for many years after I graduated chiropractic school. I had a great mentor in Dr. Eric Clark at Clark Chiropractic in Trinidad, Colorado, but after having two little ones my husband and I decided to move back to the St. Louis area to be closer to family.
Once we were back in my hometown, I really felt the call to serve patients who may not have access to holistic healthcare like chiropractic and acupuncture. These services are such an important part of every person’s wellness journey but with more holistic doctors going out of network, access can be limited.
That is why I founded Midwest Wellness Center, a 501 c3 company. My goal is to ensure that everyone has access to non-invasive holistic health services for pain management and health optimization. There is something for everyone here no matter where you are on your wellness journey.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road is always bumpy when it comes to dealing with insurance companies!! That has definitely been my biggest struggle. Insurance companies are slow to respond and reimbursement for chiropractic and acupuncture has been declining the past few years. However, accepting insurance is a pivotal part of my practice, so I will keep advocating for my patients to get the care they need.
Personally, my biggest challenge with starting this organization has been balancing my work & home life. With a 7 and a 4-year-old at home, it is challenging to put in the work needed to start a business and dedicate enough time to my family. But I want my kids to see how important it is to chase your dreams, and I hope that they grow up knowing that they can do anything they put their mind to!
As you know, we’re big fans of Midwest Wellness Center. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Midwest Wellness Center is a 501 c3 non-profit organization. I specialize in holistic pain management utilizing chiropractic and acupuncture and also offer functional health programs designed to reduce chronic inflammation through gut healing. I strive to give every patient the same high standard of care.
What sets me apart as a chiropractic physician is the variety of adjusting and soft tissue techniques that I use with every patient. I do standard manual adjustments, but also utilize a technique called Sacro-Occipital therapy to balance the pelvis and improve neurological communication to the brain. This technique is often the missing link with patients who have seen other chiropractors and not gotten results.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I always had my nose in a book! I actually wanted to be a teacher when I got older, but once I started college I discovered my love of holistic health. When I was in chiropractic school I discovered that the root word for doctor actually comes from the latin word for teacher. So, in the end I did become a teacher! Which makes sense, because a lot of what I do is simply to educate people on better wellness practices in their daily lives.
