Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Catanzaro.
Hi Kelly, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I’ve been a nurse for over 8 years now, background in ER and PACU nursing. I’ve been injecting for over 2 years currently. I became inspired by the niche area of aesthetics because I’ve always had an artistic side. Nursing can open so many doors, and I didn’t even realize this was an avenue of nursing when I was in school.
I love helping people feel their best! Sometimes it’s something as simple as an effective skincare routine or a few injections to help them feel their best; when you look good, you feel good! The world of aesthetics is hard to break into, and education is costly. However, I wanted to invest in myself and believed that I could really do some great things for others using these skills.
So, in early 2020, I took my first class. The pandemic came busting through about 3 weeks later, so there were no opportunities to be hired at a medspa. I decided to create my own opportunity and formed an LLC. I began injecting at a salon for several months and then moved on to renting my own suite.
I continue to take educational classes and in-person training—I’m a lifelong student and this industry is always improving techniques!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth is not a word I would use to describe it, no.
Aesthetics is really a gray area in the state of Missouri. There were many things I had to investigate in order to know exactly what procedures I can and cannot perform, as well as figuring out taxes/billing, etc. After all, I went to school for nursing, not business; it’s been overwhelming at times!
I’m a very determined person; if you give me a problem to solve, I will do my very best to solve it. I don’t like taking no for an answer—I see it as a challenge for me to conquer. I currently do everything myself. My content, inventory, education opportunities, scheduling, etc. are all done by me. It’s exciting to be my own boss!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Zaro Aesthetics?
I am a nurse injector specializing in neurotoxins (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin), fillers (Juvederm, Restylane, Versa, etc.), skincare, microneedling, Sclerotherapy, and vitamin shots. I’m always learning and adding more to my menu. What sets me apart is my personality and my ability to spend time with my patients creating a well-formed plan.
Since I work for myself, I’m able to spend more time with my clients to assess their needs and desired looks.
Medspas and other settings don’t always have that luxury. I’m a very honest person and definitely a bit of a goofball—we have fun in my suite! I will always give an honest opinion of the services a client may need; I will not simply take your money because I can.
Sometimes a treatment someone asks for is not the solution to their problem. I’m most proud of the fact that my brand is all me. I like to be professional with a side of humor. I want the readers to know that I offer a full menu of services for everyone; everyone is welcome and there should not be a stigma to injections.
This is a form of self-care!
