Exploring Life & Business with Timothy Brown of HIIT314 Sports Performance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Timothy Brown.

Hi Timothy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I started training at a small little studio called Fitness Together in Des Peres while home from college during the summer. I quickly knew helping others through fitness was my passion. Around 2014, I hope on a newer concept in a town called Orangetheory Fitness, and it was a perfect match. The mixture of my high energy, dope playlists, and fast-paced classes really exploded. I ended up becoming a head coach, a regional fitness manager and coaching almost 6,000 classes before I decided it was my time. I opened up HIIT314 in November 2020 during the pandemic none of us saw coming. I believed that experience, my vision, and my passion for others would be able to weather any storm… and here I am still going strong.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My road in fitness has been fairly smooth because I love people and fitness. It’s been my personal life that hasn’t been the smoothest road for me. I’ve gone through a pretty rough divorce and custody battle for my kids. It wasn’t easy and many of my members and clients have no clue because I like to keep my issues to myself and let their workout be about them, not me.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
HIIT focuses on functional training, getting my members ready and prepared for everyday life. I run high-intensity classes that last 45 minutes with a variety of different equipment. Classes hold six members so that I can ensure each member is getting a truly personal training session instead of a massive group class. I set out to make premium fitness more affordable in Saint Louis by offering my knowledge and time for only $100 per month in unlimited classes. Fitness isn’t about making money hand over fist, it’s about changing lives, and that’s what I’m most proud of HIIT for doing, changing lives through fitness and the family-like bond my members form.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Close your mouth and open your ears. There will always be someone better, older, and more experienced than you… listen to them, learn from them.
