Hidden Gems: Meet Dawn Schneider and Lindsey Ackland of The Charming Home

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dawn Schneider and Lindsey Ackland.

Hi Dawn and Lindsey, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
We meet when our daughters were in Girl Scouts together and we became fast friends over our love of home decor, wine, and stand-up comedy.

We are passionate about repurposing and reusing the quality furniture that you already own. The way paint can transform an outdated piece into a new creation inspires us.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When we first started out, we were unfamiliar with how to price our work and how to advertise to get new clients.

We took some online courses and we reached out to fellow refinishers and started making connections in the industry. They helped us create a formula to adequately price our work for our clients and our bottom line. We quickly found a niche for helping clients re-purpose furniture they already owned.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Charming Home. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a woman-owned business that specializes in painted furniture. We have been in business for over 6 years. and we are experts at reimagining client-owned pieces.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
We collaborate directly with our clients in order to understand their vision and also have a wonderful working relationship with many interior designers in the St. Louis area.
