Hi Jeff, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
My name is Jeff Capaldo, and I’m an entrepreneur initially from a tiny town named Caldwell in southern West Virginia. Back home, there weren’t many opportunities, so after leaving for college at WVU, I only spent a little less than a year there. I’ve traveled for work, living in Nashville, New Jersey, NYC, Boston, Philadelphia, Wilkes-Barre, Pittsburgh, Tampa, Raleigh, and St. Louis. St. Louis has become my favorite of all the places I’ve lived. I met an amazing group of friends here, and I’ve been blessed to be a part of this city. I live in Tower Grove South, where I just launched my newest business, Gummy King, in February. We expanded here from our first business in Raleigh, NC, and obtained our Missouri business license was obtained that day, February 16, 2022, but that was the day after my father passed away. He passed away on February 15, 2022. Since then, we’ve been selling our top-of-the-line delta-8 and THC gummies in St. Louis and many other cities and states. There’s a misconception that delta-8 THC is harmful, and many producers have had problems. Still, ours is made from the finest quality hemp. All procedures followed in manufacturing our gummies are intended to maintain the utmost quality of our hemp in the final product. Outside of owning Gummy King, I’m a multi-instrumental musician, and I’ve been riding bulls again with Missouri Family Rodeo Association in Mt. Vernon, MO. I added a mandolin to my collection, consisting of guitars, banjos, basses, keyboards, harmonicas, Hammond organ, saxophone, trumpet, and melodica, and I’m not sure I can remember the rest. I don’t play the violin, sitar, or double-reeded woodwinds, In my free time, I’m a startup investor and consultant, and I can often be found at my favorite Tower Grove bar, Bootleggin’ Bob’s.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a business is never easy, but we haven’t faced any substantial challenges. We had a supply shortage for a while, which lasted longer than I should have allowed. We have a great product, and when people try our gummies, they become repeat customers. We had to get our inventory up to accommodate the demand. We’ve been making things work by word of mouth only, but once we launch our website, I expect the demand will be difficult to keep up with once again.

Our edibles businesses, both in Raleigh, NC, and St. Louis, MO, launched after the worst of Covid-19, so we didn’t face that situation head-on. If we did, it would have been a struggle for us as it was for many businesses.
