Hidden Gems: Meet Lisa Nolan of HealingSheGotFaith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Nolan.

Hi Lisa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My story started in 2018 when my mom passed away tragically. I had lost myself after losing her. Death was not new to me. I had lost my father at the age of 15 in 2007. In between the years of 2007 to 2018, I had attended many funerals. Once, my mom passed and I planned her funeral, I was in shock. I was totally different person. Moving on in life was extremely hard. Prior to this, I started my self-love and healing journey in 2017. I declared a season of healing. When I declared that, I went through a toxic break up, the death of my cousin and the death of mother. It felt like everything was thrown at me to hold me back. When all of this happened, I realized that I had declared a season of healing.

As I was growing in my career and growing personally, I realized that I was just not happy in general. I realized that I had never really thought about my dad passing when I was 15, I was in such a toxic relationship and it was making me reevaluate my life decisions and I would ask myself,”If I didn’t lose my daddy at such a young age, what would my life look like?” Naturally, because of how I was growing, the relationship started to fall off and things happened and I walked away. When I walked away, my cousin had passed and then my mom. All of this was literally within 90 days of one another. When mom passed, I realized that I had never grieved anything in my life. I was always taught to keep pushing and move forward. “You have to be strong.” When mom died, I couldn’t be strong. That wasn’t an option. I was 6 months out before I graduated with my Master’s of Social Work. I had to finish that because that was too much money and time to be wasted. Once I graduated, I decided to quit my job and move across the country to heal. I literally took a year off of life to figure out who and what I was.

During this time, I launched my organization, HealingSheGotFaith. HealingSheGotFaith is literally me inviting people onto this healing journey. “SheGotFaith” is my stage name or the name I use on all my social media handles. When I added “Healing” in front of it, I was literally inviting everyone to join this healing journey. Healingshegotfaith was created because one we, as adults, are not allowed to grieve or feel what we feel. We always have to keep it pushing. Get up and go. Also, a lot of us are not taught to cater to ourselves. Our quote at HealingSheGotFaith is love you the way you love the world because oftentimes we literally pour into everyone and everything around us when we really deserve to give ourselves the same energy. When I took that time off, I worked on my organization, published my first book project, Everyone Has A Story and now have a Radio Talk Show and opened a community office. Healingshegotfaith is for all of us who are grieving and our self love journey.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not. There are rules and regulations to running a business that I was never taught. But also with that being said, I had learned that I had never set boundaries with myself nor people and things around me. Grief is hard to deal with because it is not a linear journey. It will hit you out of nowhere. While trying to follow the rules of opening a brick and motor in these municipalities, I would be triggered by some of the interactions I’ve had with some people in authority because I was reminded of my insecurities and unresolved grief. There was a lot of growth and maturing and reflection that had to be done.

We’ve been impressed with HealingSheGotFaith, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We have a book bundle, Everyone Has a Story Book Bundle which includes a novel, guided journal and planner, we have a Radio Talk Show on Total Entertainment Radio, We have an online bookstore and we have a community office in Overland, MO. We do offer grief support groups and self-love support groups as well. Our goal is to provide a safe space for people who are grieving and on their self love journey.
